The film Childhood Moon about Uncle Ho's childhood is licensed

On May 30, Director of the Department of Cinema Vi Kien Thanh confirmed that the film “Vang Trang Tho Tu” (The Moon of Childhood) by director and Meritorious Artist Ho Ngoc Xum has been granted a screening license. The film will have its first screening in June.

According to Mr. Thanh, the film “Vang Trang Thoi Tu” was ordered by the State, so it will be included in film weeks and film batches serving political purposes. As for commercial screening in cinemas, it must be approved by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism .

The representative of the film's production unit, Giai Phong Film Joint Stock Company, also said that the unit will send a document asking for permission to screen widely like the film "Dao, Pho and Piano".

The film “The Moon of Childhood” (scriptwriter: Dang Thi Thanh Binh, director: Ho Ngoc Xum) is a work produced by Giai Phong Film Joint Stock Company. The film script won third prize in the 2020 Feature Film Script Writing Competition organized by the Department of Cinema.

The film stars Tran Viet Bac, Ngo Le Quyen, Pham Huu Dai, Luu Van An, Bach Cong Khanh, Nguyen Ngoc Kim Ngan, Ali Quang Khai, Bui Nguyen Hoang Phuc...

The actor who plays Uncle Ho in his youth is Pham Huu Dai, born in 2013. Pham Huu Dai is a flute student at Nghe An College of Culture and Arts. Before accepting the role in the movie “Vang trang thoi nu”, Dai had never acted in a movie.

Previously, “Childhood Moon” was scheduled to premiere on May 17, 2024. However, the film was later postponed due to lack of licensing and some details being edited.

Regarding this, a representative of Giai Phong Film Joint Stock Company explained that the film has not been licensed because the production process has not been completed. The film was shot in Hue and Nghe An, and when filming in Hue, it happened to be during the flood season, so the filming schedule was delayed. This is an objective issue that the production unit could not have foreseen.
