On the morning of July 25, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son and the Government delegation worked with the leaders of the Nuclear Research Institute located in Da Lat ( Lam Dong ), inspected the actual operations at the Da Lat Nuclear Reactor, the operation, exploitation, research, application... of the Institute.
Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Cao Dong Vu, Director of the Institute of Nuclear Research, informed that the Institute's main task is to safely operate and effectively exploit the Da Lat Nuclear Reactor and scientific and technological equipment to serve research, application, training and human resource development.
The Institute also promotes production and business, providing products and services in the field of atomic energy and related fields; exporting materials and equipment to serve the activities within the assigned functions and tasks according to the provisions of law...

Up to now, the Nuclear Research Institute has provided over 15,000 Ci (non-SI unit of radiation measurement) of various radioactive drugs to 23 domestic hospitals on a weekly basis, promptly serving the diagnosis and treatment of about 500,000 patients/year.
In addition to using Low Power Reactors to produce radioactive isotopes to meet the needs of medicine and other industries, the Institute has also successfully applied many nuclear and isotopic techniques to serve the socio-economic development of the country such as agriculture, geology, oil and gas, archeology, transportation, irrigation, environment...
The Director of the Nuclear Research Institute proposed that in order for the Da Lat Nuclear Reactor to operate and exploit effectively, it be allowed to research the possibility of using new fuels and the possibility of increasing the capacity of the Da Lat Nuclear Reactor (about 2-3 times compared to the current capacity) with new fuels; upgrading and synchronizing the reactor's technological systems; supplementing nuclear fuel for the Da Lat Nuclear Reactor to ensure operation after 2030...

At the meeting, representatives of the leaders of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education and Training... and the People's Committee of Lam Dong province responded to the proposals and recommendations of the Nuclear Research Institute in the direction of continuing to support and create conditions for the Institute to maintain and further promote its role in researching and applying atomic science, contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.
Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son highly appreciated the important role and silent dedication of many generations of scientists, technical staff, civil servants and workers of the Nuclear Research Institute over the years to the country's development.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the important role of nuclear research, especially in the Party and State's orientation for atomic energy development and the Government's Plan for the application and development of atomic energy to 2030.

Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son asked the Nuclear Research Institute to continue promoting the tradition of solidarity and innovation to complete assigned tasks.
The Ministry of Science and Technology directed the Institute of Atomic Energy and the Institute of Nuclear Research to focus on developing a project to propose tasks and solutions on policy mechanisms.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested relevant ministries and branches to research, review, and contribute to building institutions and removing current bottlenecks in the development of nuclear energy science and technology.../.
