On the morning of July 24, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh visited, encouraged and directed the work of overcoming the consequences of natural disasters in Con Cuong district, Nghe An province - one of the localities heavily affected by the circulation of storm No. 3.

According to local reports, prolonged heavy rains have caused severe flooding in many highland communes in Western Nghe An such as Nhon Mai, Tuong Duong, My Ly, Muong Xen, Con Cuong... Thousands of households have been affected. The whole province recorded 3 deaths, 1 missing person, floods swept away 5 houses (Nhon Mai commune), collapsed 7 houses (Tuong Duong commune), the roofs of 37 houses and 1 school were blown off. In particular, Con Cuong commune is one of the places that has been severely affected with hundreds of houses deeply flooded, National Highway 7A through the district has been cut off, causing difficulties for rescue and relief work.

Faced with the emergency, the Ministry of National Defense mobilized helicopters to transport essential goods such as food, drinking water, and necessities to supply people in isolated areas such as Tuong Duong, My Ly, Nhon Mai, Thong Thu, Muong Tip...

The Military Region 4 Command, Nghe An Provincial Military Command, and Division 324 mobilized more than 3,000 officers, soldiers, militia and self-defense forces and 91 vehicles, ships, and boats of all kinds to support rescue and recovery efforts.

At the meeting and visit to the people, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh expressed his deep sympathy for the losses and difficulties of the people. He affirmed that the Government always cares and stands side by side with the people in the disaster areas, requesting the authorities to urgently organize relief, provide necessities and soon restore essential infrastructure.

The Deputy Prime Minister also asked Nghe An province to strengthen natural disaster prevention, support people to stabilize their lives, ensure social security, and absolutely not leave anyone behind.

The visit and direct guidance of the Deputy Prime Minister, along with the timely support of the military, has further motivated the government and people of Nghe An in general and Con Cuong commune in particular, creating confidence and confidence to overcome difficulties and quickly recover after natural disasters.
