Nearly 1,000 artists participate in the 6th International Experimental Theatre Festival

The 6th International Experimental Theatre Festival in 2025 has the participation of nearly 1,000 artists, with 29 plays by nearly 30 international and Vietnamese art units.

The festival will take place from November 15 to 30, 2025 in 4 provinces and cities: Hanoi , Ninh Binh, Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong.

At the press conference on November 11, the Organizing Committee informed: The 6th International Experimental Theatre Festival is a cultural and artistic exchange event between Vietnam and other countries in the world , aiming to improve the quality as well as encourage innovation and creativity in the country's theatrical arts; introduce and honor Vietnamese and international theatrical works with new ideological, artistic and creative values.

This is also an opportunity for domestic artists to exchange and learn professionally with international colleagues. This is also an opportunity for Vietnamese artists to promote the unique values ​​of traditional art forms with international colleagues...

This is the 6th time the Festival has been held to seek new points leading to successful results in artistic creation through stage experiments, which is a necessary direction to have new directions in creative methods.

The 6th International Experimental Theatre Festival in 2025 is an annual theatrical activity, creating opportunities for domestic theatre to exchange and integrate with world theatre. From there, learn and exchange experiences to improve the quality of art as well as encourage innovation and creativity for the country's theatrical art.

This festival attracted about 1,000 artists from nearly 30 art units, with 29 plays, which are typical experimental stage works of international and Vietnamese professional stage art troupes.

These are works that art units have invested in professionally, are creative in testing new ways, creating the appeal of the play.

In addition to the official performances, the Festival also organizes academic exchange seminars on theatrical works; performing arts programs for the opening and closing ceremonies and performances for the audience.

Mr. Nguyen Dang Chuong added that in the 29 plays participating in the Festival, there are diverse art forms, rich in themes. There are dramas, pantomimes, physical dramas, musicals, cheo, tuong, cai luong, circus, puppetry... and there are also other art forms whose themes have not yet been determined.

There are plays that are not exactly tragedies, comedies, musicals… so finding a name for the play is a bit difficult. However, the goal of the Festival is to reach out to new discoveries in domestic and international theatrical arts, so the Organizing Committee welcomes those new experiments and innovations.

In particular, this Festival is organized by the Vietnam Stage Artists Association in coordination with the People's Committee of Ninh Binh province, so artists and audiences will enjoy and participate in the special art program 'Street Parade' in the ancient town of Hoa Lu - Ninh Binh.
