The fundraising campaign “Double the Love - 2025” co-organized by the Association of Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts in Australia (VASEA) and the Australian Social Impact Fund (ASIF Foundation) has closed with a total amount of 74,065.68 AUD (approximately 49,000 USD, equivalent to 1.25 billion VND) to support people in flood-affected areas in Vietnam.
The campaign was launched after Vietnam suffered two consecutive super typhoons Bualoi (storm No. 10) and Matmo (storm No. 11) at the end of September, causing heavy rains, floods, serious landslides and heavy damage in many northern and central provinces.
With the connection of VASEA, ASIF, and the support of the Embassy and Consulate General of Vietnam in Australia, the campaign received enthusiastic response from the Vietnamese community, associations, businesses and international friends.
Stemming from the love for the homeland, VASEA and ASIF have chosen the image “From heart to heart” as the symbol of the campaign. For every 1 AUD donated from the community, ASIF Foundation will contribute 1-1 in the spirit of “doubling the love” to spread the power of kindness in the Vietnamese community in Australia and international friends. All contributions over 2 AUD are recognized by the Australian Taxation Office and are deductible from personal income tax according to the regulations of the host country.
On November 11, under the witness of Vietnamese Consul General in Sydney Nguyen Thanh Tung, Professor Nghiem Duc Long - Chairman of VASEA, on behalf of the campaign, symbolically handed over the above amount of money to the people in the country who are having to overcome the consequences of storms and floods in 2025.
Attending the ceremony were Mr. Andrew Goledzinowski - former Australian Ambassador to Vietnam (term 2022-2024), senior advisor of VASEA; Ms. Nguyen Nhue Ha, representative of the ASIF Foundation Executive Board; representatives of associations and groups that participated in the fundraising campaign, the Vietnamese Student Association in New South Wales and a large Vietnamese community in Sydney.
The entire amount of donations is transferred by ASIF and VASEA to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front through the Vietnamese Consulate General in Australia and is publicly reported to the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam).
The fundraising event not only provides material support but also symbolizes the solidarity, compassion and pioneering role of the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Australia. Through practical actions, the Vietnamese people living far away from home are contributing to beautifying the image of the kind, resilient Vietnamese people who always look towards their homeland and beloved country.
