Urgent home repair
Storm No. 13 has blown off the roofs of hundreds of houses in the western communes of Quang Ngai province such as Mang Ri, Tu Mo Rong, Dak Sao, Ngoc Linh, Dak Plo and Ayun commune ( Gia Lai province). This is an area with a large population of ethnic minorities, many households face the risk of losing their homes.

In the past two days, when the wind had died down and the storm had calmed down, local authorities had advanced funds to buy corrugated iron, iron, steel, and glue and mobilized forces to each village to help people repair their houses. On the roofs that had been blown off, the working atmosphere was urgent, everyone was trying their best, determined to finish the work soon so that people could quickly settle down.
In Dak Sao commune, this morning, November 8, about 100 officers and soldiers, including police, militia and shock troops, are continuing to help people repair their houses. The working groups are divided into small groups to climb up to the damaged roofs. Some are covering the roofs with corrugated iron, others are nailing and gluing, urgently completing each roof for the people.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Thuy, Vice Chairman of Dak Sao Commune People's Committee, said: "We have identified helping people repair their houses and bring their lives back to normal as the top priority after the storm. For the past two days, a working group with hundreds of people has been going to the village to support people; the commune will cover all costs of repairing houses. On the first day, about 80% of the damaged houses were completed, today we are striving to repair the remaining parts."
In Mang Ri commune, Mr. Pham Xuan Quang, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said that 19 houses and rice warehouses had their roofs blown off and had been repaired by the commune. Similarly, in Ngoc Linh commune, 20 houses were damaged and were repaired by soldiers and commune officials, completing the repairs on the afternoon of November 7.
In Dak Plo commune, 94 houses, kitchens, warehouses, and barns had their roofs blown off by rocks and soil. The local authorities are currently mobilizing forces to help people fix the problem. In Tu Mo Rong commune, 17 houses had their roofs blown off. Many have been repaired and the commune is continuing to repair the remaining houses.

In Ayun commune (Gia Lai province), Mr. Mai Thanh Chung, Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said that in the area, 103 houses were affected and 6 schools had their roofs blown off. Today, the commune mobilized forces to help people repair houses and schools, striving to finish soon to stabilize their lives and studies.
Disease prevention
In the western localities of Gia Lai province located along the Ba River, the water has receded, and local people are rushing to overcome the consequences of flooding.

In Ia Hiao commune, Gia Lai province, the houses flooded on November 7 have now receded. Authorities are spraying disinfectant. Mr. Pham Van Phuong, Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, said that thanks to proactively clearing the sewers in advance, when the storm passed, the water quickly receded and households were no longer flooded. People have returned to normal activities and continued to go to the fields to produce.
Concerned about the risk of disease after the storm, the commune has directed the health station to coordinate in spraying disinfectants at flooded areas in the market and villages. Currently, disinfection has been sprayed at Thanh Binh market and flooded villages; at the same time, disinfection spraying is being expanded to other areas with potential risk of spreading.


In Ia Pa commune (Gia Lai province), where more than 500 houses were flooded by the storm, by this morning, the water had receded in most of the houses. Mr. Vo Tan Cong, Vice Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said that the commune is currently mobilizing forces to clean up and trim trees in schools, helping students get to school early; at the same time, helping people to clean up their houses after the storm.
