On the morning of November 25, the People's Committee of Da Nang City held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 14B, the section passing through Da Nang City. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha attended the program.
The project has a route length of 7.58 km, starting at Km24+633, National Highway 14B in Hoa Nhon commune (Hoa Vang district, Da Nang city, adjacent to La Son - Tuy Loan expressway intersection); ending at Km32+185.09, National Highway 14B, in Hoa Khuong commune (Hoa Vang district, bordering Quang Nam province).
The project is invested by the state budget with a total investment of more than 788 billion VND. The project investor is the Department of Transport of Da Nang City; The joint venture of Dong Son Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company - CIENCO4 Group Joint Stock Company is the construction contractor.
Regarding the scale of construction investment: National Highway 14B is invested in construction according to the urban main road level, design speed 80 km/h; road surface width 34 m, ensuring 4 lanes for motor vehicles, 2 lanes for mixed vehicles. On the route, there are 4 bridges, the old bridge will be widened to 28 m. The route is fully designed with drainage items; intersections to ensure traffic safety; residential roads; lighting system; traffic safety system.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee - Mr. Le Trung Chinh said that the groundbreaking of the project to renovate and upgrade National Highway 14B aims to ensure the synchronization of the entire National Highway 14B route, the section passing through Da Nang City.
After completion, the project will contribute to completing the national transport network development plan and the overall socio-economic development plan of Da Nang City; improving the exploitation capacity to meet the transportation needs, inter-regional connectivity, minimizing traffic accidents, promoting socio-economic development, ensuring security and defense in the Central - Central Highlands region; at the same time, contributing to connecting the horizontal axis and expressways as well as the East - West economic corridor 2 axis, promoting socio-economic development of localities along the route.
Once completed, the project will also contribute to changing the appearance of the western gateway of the city in a modern direction, creating new space for urban development in this direction, especially development in the direction of developing a public transport system (TOD).
“The route renovation is also the desire of the city’s people to overcome the traffic situation and traffic accidents on this vital traffic route,” said the Chairman of the Da Nang City People’s Committee, and at the same time requested the investors, consultants, and construction contractors to implement the project to ensure quality, labor safety, on schedule, and efficiency.
The project is expected to be completed in 2025.
