During the process of handling by the authorities, the Food Safety Department recommends that consumers absolutely do not buy or use related products as the product images and press information have posted to avoid risks affecting health and economic losses.
After the conclusion of the investigation agency of Hanoi City Police, the Food Safety Department will update information on the website about fake functional food products so that consumers know and do not use them.
According to the Food Safety Department, before the Hanoi City Police discovered the incident, on May 5, 2025, the Ministry of Health issued Official Dispatch No. 2657/BYT-ATTP on strengthening food safety management and preventing fake food to relevant ministries, branches and People's Committees of provinces and cities.
Implementing the direction of the Prime Minister in Official Dispatch No. 41/CD-TTg dated April 17, 2025 on handling cases of production and trade of counterfeit medicines and health protection foods, the Department of Food Safety issued Official Dispatch No. 790/ATTP-SP dated April 18, 2025 on strengthening post-inspection of counterfeit and poor quality foods to the Department of Health of provinces and centrally run cities, the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City, the Food Safety Management Board of Da Nang City, and the Food Safety and Hygiene Sub-Departments of provinces and cities.
To strengthen strict management of functional foods, the Ministry of Health is currently coordinating with relevant ministries and branches to advise the Government to issue a Decree amending and supplementing Decree No. 15/2018/ND-CP. The purpose of the amendment is to enhance product quality and safety, improve the effectiveness of state management to effectively protect public health.
Recently, the Economic Police Department (PC03) - Hanoi City Police has dismantled a large-scale counterfeit goods production and trading ring, seizing about 100 tons of fake functional foods and fake medical equipment.
This line is led by Pham Ngoc Tien and his wife Doan Thi Nguyet (both born in 1988, residing at No. 1, LK 11, Xa La urban area, Phuc La ward, Ha Dong district, Hanoi).
Accordingly, the subjects declared that they had established 17 companies, including 6 companies with the function of importing goods and 11 companies with the function of distributing domestic goods to import, distribute goods and produce counterfeit goods themselves by hiring people to mix, package products and attach foreign labels.
Police searched nearly 20 locations nationwide, seizing more than 100 tons of counterfeit goods including 28,531 boxes of functional foods; 34,822 bottles of functional foods; 38,935 blister packs containing functional food pills; nearly 100 boxes of stamps and labels, various types of machinery, production lines, tools, raw materials... used to produce counterfeit goods and fake medical equipment.
