What makes the 20-year-old stand out from the crowd is her ability to make eye contact and keep the conversation going. Dr. Nicolas Roulin (Saint Mary's University, Canada) says one of the biggest mistakes Gen Z makes is asking stupid questions.

You only have the first 6 seconds to grab the recruiter's attention on your CV, so it needs to be clearly presented on a single page, have an impressive design and show why you are the best candidate.

That information can be found on the company website, so you should spend some time researching the company to answer the question "Why do you want to work there?". What you need to do is suggest the value that you can contribute to the company.

If you know the interviewer’s name in advance, do some research. This can sometimes lead to interesting personal connections, such as a classmate. In particular, experts say that formal attire is the best choice for a job interview, avoiding jeans, shorts, slippers, or overly revealing clothing.

You must demonstrate that you are suitable, be able to tell stories about your achievements that match each requirement in the job description.

You should also show your interest and thoughtfulness by preparing a few questions in advance: What will a day at work be like? Is this a new position or did the previous person leave? What are the promotion opportunities after a year?...

According to Nathan Mondragon (Creative Director of HireVue), when asked if you have any further questions, you should take advantage of the ones you have prepared. To avoid making a bad impression, the advice is to leave questions about salary, working hours, benefits, vacation time, etc. to the end of the interview.

How you ask questions is important. Ask, "Can you tell me about the benefits for this position?" instead of, "How many days of vacation do I get each year?"

Another tip is to send a thank you email 24 hours after the interview. This is also an indirect and subtle reminder that you are the right candidate for the position. And don't contact the employer to ask about the result before the scheduled time. If after that time you have not received a response, you can contact the employer once a week.
