Lao Cai women contribute to the construction of the 500 kV power line

Contributing to creating favorable conditions for the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project to ensure progress, cadres and women's union members of localities where the project passes through actively contributed with specific actions.

These days, along the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line, passing through Lao Cai province, not only do we see engineers and workers working on poles and building foundations, but there is also the contribution of officials and members of the Provincial Women's Union. Especially, in propagating and mobilizing members, women and people to comply with the site clearance plan; supporting people to relocate their houses; supporting food and foodstuffs to encourage the workers' spirit at the construction site, helping the project to be completed soon.

The 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project, the section passing through Lam Thuong commune has 15 pole positions, passing through the villages: Na Ken, Nam Tro, Be Choi, Ban Muoi, Son Tay, Son Trung and Son Dong. 75 households were affected in terms of housing, production land, crops, and planted forests, of which, Ms. Bao Thi Thiep's household in Son Tay village had to relocate.

To support Ms. Bao Thi Thiep's family in moving their house and returning the land for the project, the Women's Union of Lam Thuong commune mobilized over 50 members to help the family. Thanks to that, in just one day, Ms. Thiep's family basically finished packing up their belongings and moved to a new place.

Along with that, the women also support food, cooking rice to serve workers at the construction site. Ms. Pham Thi Lien, Son Tay village shared: With the propaganda and mobilization of the Women's Union at all levels, we are ready to support working days and necessities to join hands to quickly complete the project.

The workers who built the power line were away from home for many months. When they received the attention of local people, everyone was moved.

Mr. Pham Minh Tram, a worker from Ha Tinh province, said: “After being away from home for several months, I feel warmed by the love and care from the people. It is a great source of spiritual encouragement, helping us have more motivation to complete the project on schedule.”

Implementing the direction of the Provincial Women's Union, the Women's Union of Lam Thuong commune coordinated with the Commune Fatherland Front and mass organizations to visit, encourage, support necessities, and create all conditions for food, accommodation, and living for the construction unit. Therefore, up to now, the 500 kV line running through Lam Thuong commune has basically completed the work of site clearance and compensation and has received the consensus and support of the people.

The 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project, the section passing through Thuong Ha commune, has 33 pole positions, with a total length of 15.46 km, the land acquisition area is 5.15 hectares, affecting 50 households. The corridor land area is 44.3 hectares, affecting the production land of 116 households.

Ms. Le Kim Thuy, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Thuong Ha commune, said: Implementing the direction of the Provincial Women's Union on propaganda, mobilization, and understanding the situation of members and women in the communes implementing the project, the Standing Committee of the Women's Union of Thuong Ha commune has directed the branches: Ban 3, Mai Dao, Vai Sieu, Bon 4... to coordinate with departments, branches, and village unions to propagate, mobilize, and understand the situation and thoughts of members, women and people. At the same time, directly go with the village unions to households to grasp the situation to promptly propagate and mobilize the implementation of the project's site clearance plan.

Along with that, members and women of Thuong Ha commune also focused on supporting households in cutting trees, clearing land... so that construction units could quickly deploy and ensure project implementation time.

Up to now, the provincial women's unions at all levels have coordinated to organize 35 sessions with working groups to directly visit each affected household to grasp the situation, listen to their thoughts and aspirations, promptly answer questions, and resolve difficulties; at the same time, mobilize people to agree with the State's policies and guidelines; deploy activities to support food, drinking water, support relocation, clearing, and cutting trees... contributing to ensuring project progress.

Present at the construction site of the 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen transmission line project, many women shared their feelings of both pride and emotion when looking at the giant steel columns gradually rising up in the fields, they saw their small efforts in the great project.

“Seeing the workers doing their work on the high poles regardless of rain or scorching sun, my heart aches with worry. Therefore, I always tell myself that I will do everything I can to contribute to speeding up the project. Seeing the giant poles gradually completed, I feel very happy, because I have contributed a small part to the national project” - Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh, Nam Tro village, Lam Thuong commune confided.

In the coming time, the Provincial Women's Union will continue to direct local associations where the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project passes through to continue to do a good job of propaganda and mobilization for members and people to clearly understand the meaning and importance of the project for socio-economic development and ensuring national energy security; widely propagate compensation, support and resettlement policies so that people can clearly understand, agree and hand over the site on time.

At the same time, the Provincial Women's Union also mobilized members and people to be ready to help and support working days to cut down trees and move assets to help households, striving to complete the entire project on August 19. The small actions of members and women in the province have affirmed the role of a strong rear for the national key project to overcome mountains and forests, and reach the finish line on time.
