Mai Son women join hands to protect the environment

Actively participating in environmental protection, the Women's Union of Mai Son district has implemented many practical and effective activities; spreading strongly in the community, attracting a large number of members to participate, contributing to the construction of new rural areas in the locality.

The Women's Union of Mai Son district has 30,600 members, operating in 291 branches in 22 communes and towns. Promoting the role of women in environmental protection, implementing the Campaign "Building a family of 5 no's, 3 clean's", especially the criteria of "3 cleans" (clean house, clean kitchen, clean alley) and the movement "green - clean - beautiful", the union at all levels has implemented practical activities, such as: Organizing training courses to raise awareness about clean water, environmental sanitation, rational use of natural resources; planting flowers, trees, building hygienic toilets and maintaining general cleaning campaigns of village roads and alleys ...

Typically, the Women's Union of Chieng Ban commune has promoted the "Family of 5 no, 3 clean" campaign associated with the new rural construction movement. Each branch takes on specific tasks such as building self-managed women's roads, sorting garbage, collecting pesticide packaging, protecting water sources, planting flowers, taking care of trees, cleaning village roads... In particular, in recent years, women's union members have actively collected coffee grounds and husks after harvest to compost into organic fertilizer, reused to fertilize plants. This work both protects the environment and helps reduce production costs. From 2024 to present, the Women's Union of Chieng Ban commune has maintained 11 models of sorting and treating garbage at households associated with the "3 clean" movement: clean kitchen, clean house, clean alley, attracting all members to participate. It has mobilized 15 more households to use classified trash bins, bringing the total number of households implementing this to 1,769/1,825 households. In addition, the Association also maintains 20 self-managed women's roads with a total length of more than 13 km, regularly organizing cleaning with the participation of more than 3,000 members. Currently, the whole commune has 10/11 "Women's Flower Roads" with a length of 2.2 km that are regularly cared for, contributing to creating a green - clean - beautiful landscape...

Ms. Hoang Thi Xau, President of the Women's Union of Chieng Ban Commune, said: The Union has 11 branches with 1,729 members. In recent times, the Union has regularly integrated environmental protection propaganda through branch activities, loudspeaker systems, Facebook and Zalo. Thanks to that, all 11 branches have maintained activities of cleaning village roads, clearing sewers, planting and caring for flower roads.

In each locality, the Women's Union at all levels has built models suitable to reality, contributing to making the environment increasingly clean and beautiful. The campaign "Building a family of 5 no's, 3 clean's", with the criteria of clean house, clean alley, clean kitchen, has been implemented synchronously and effectively, contributing to raising awareness and changing the actions of cadres and members.

The Women's Union of Hat Lot town has 22 branches with 2,700 members. In recent times, members have actively participated in environmental protection activities, bringing about practical results. The branches have undertaken many suitable tasks such as: planting flowers and ornamental plants on self-managed roads; collecting and treating waste; cleaning and beautifying the landscape at the village and sub-regional cultural houses, etc.

Ms. Ha Thi Tinh, President of the Women's Union of Hat Lot town, informed: The Union has directed its branches to promote propaganda for members to classify garbage at home, dump garbage in the right place, at the right time. At the same time, it has launched a movement against plastic waste, limited plastic bags, encouraged people to bring baskets to the market; kept clean the streets managed by women, flower streets; did not let garbage accumulate; effectively implemented the models of "turning garbage into money", "clean house, beautiful garden" ...

The movement of women participating in environmental protection in Mai Son district has been implemented with many practical solutions, focusing on changing living habits, contributing to raising awareness and action of the community. From 2024 to present, the District Women's Union has maintained 152 models of "Joining hands to classify, collect and treat waste at households" associated with the criteria of "3 clean: clean kitchen, clean house, clean alley" in 22 communes and towns, attracting 11,583 members to participate. At the same time, effectively maintaining 52 models of "Green House for charity fundraising" with 4,426 members participating in 16 communes and towns. Through the model of collecting recycled waste to raise funds, the Union has supported members and children in difficult circumstances with a total amount of more than 38 million VND. Mobilized 823 more households to use classified trash bins, bringing the total number of households to 33,058, reaching 84.36% of the total households in the district. The Association also supported the construction of 426 hygienic toilets, bringing the total number to 28,719 households; mobilized 521 households to remove livestock and poultry from under the floor, bringing the total number to 30,031 households, reaching over 88%.

In addition, the district has newly established 14 self-managed women's routes with a length of 6 km, bringing the total to 339 routes in 291 villages, hamlets and sub-regions; organized 1,174 environmental sanitation sessions with nearly 94,000 members participating. Currently, the whole district maintains 191 "Women's flower routes" with a length of 57 km; 81 "5 no, 3 clean" models; 32 "Village light" routes and has recognized 4 more "Residential clusters of clean houses - beautiful gardens", bringing the total to 7 clusters with 118 participating households...

With practical actions, women in Mai Son district have actively taken the lead in building a green - clean - beautiful environment, contributing to protecting public health and improving environmental criteria in building new rural areas and civilized urban areas. Ms. Hoang Thi Ngoc Ngan, President of the Women's Union of Mai Son district, said: In the coming time, the Union will step up propaganda associated with specific tasks, helping members easily access and implement. At the same time, improve the quality of existing models, build new models suitable for each locality. The Union will also coordinate with schools to incorporate environmental protection content into extracurricular activities, raising awareness among students. Along with that, mobilize resources to effectively support models and movements, contributing to building a green - clean - beautiful living environment.
