( Quang Ngai Newspaper) - With just a smartphone and a setting in the garden or on the porch, many Ca Dong women in the Son Tay highlands have brought agricultural products produced by their families and fellow villagers to consumers, opening up a new direction in the consumption of goods.
In recent years, households in Son Long commune have grown many types of quality agricultural products, but consumption has encountered many difficulties due to the long distances. In 2024, with the support of the Women's Union at all levels, 15 Ca Dong women in Son Long commune joined the Son Long Commune Production, Cultivation and Livestock Cooperative. They worked together, shared farming techniques, helped reduce risks in production and linked product consumption. From here, the sale of agricultural products through social networking platforms began to be implemented.
Ms. Dinh Thi Thu Nguyet was chosen to approach, learn technology and implement livestreaming to sell agricultural products. Initially, due to unfamiliarity, Ms. Nguyet encountered many difficulties, especially lacking confidence when facing many people when livestreaming directly. Ms. Nguyet shared that at first, there were not many viewers and no one ordered, so she was very discouraged, but with the support of friends, she gradually became more confident. From small orders, I now have large orders. My customers now are not only in the district but also in many other localities.

With her experience, Ms. Nguyet enthusiastically instructed the women in the cooperative on how to conduct a livestream session, from how to talk, introduce products, to how to use technology. Especially, filming product introduction videos right in the garden, livestreaming the process of caring for agricultural products via social networks...
The way of selling through social media platforms as instructed by Ms. Nguyet has brought positive results to Ms. Dinh Thi Hong and many women in Son Long commune. Ms. Hong's family grows nearly 800 guava, banana, grapefruit, and durian trees. Of which, guava has been harvested for 2 years now, and grapefruit has just harvested its first crop. In previous years, Ms. Hong only sold small quantities to local people, with little income. Since joining the local cooperative for production, farming, and livestock farming, she has learned how to sell through social media, so her family's agricultural products have been consumed strongly. After harvesting, she takes pictures, posts them on Facebook, and livestreams them to sell, without having to bring them to the market.
“I used to take pictures and post them on Facebook, but because I didn’t know how to take them, they weren’t very good. Now, thanks to Ms. Nguyet’s guidance on how to take pictures and record videos, the pictures are beautiful, clear, and attract many viewers,” Ms. Hong confided.
Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Son Long Commune, Pham Thi Trinh Nu, said that recently, members and women in the commune have gradually learned to use information technology and smartphones to post images of their products for sale on social networking platforms. They connect to introduce and promote agricultural products of local people. Thereby, not only helping people consume products, but women are also increasingly confident and active in integrating. Many products are not enough to supply customers, so women have expanded the scale of livestock and crop farming. In the coming time, we will propose that the Women's Union at higher levels organize more training courses to help local women improve their online sales skills.
With the boldness and confidence in applying digital technology , livestreaming to sell products via social networks by Ca Dong women in Son Tay district has opened up a new direction in consuming agricultural products in the highlands, helping farmers expand their markets, increase product value and increase income.
