In reality, daily life cannot avoid conflicts, collisions, and contradictions. However, some people cannot control their emotions and do not handle them skillfully, leading to resolving conflicts with violence, causing unpredictable consequences for themselves, their families, and society. The consequences are that some people are injured, even lose their lives, and others are caught up in the law...
A moment of anger
Recently, Phu Yen People 's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of defendant SA (born August 20, 2004, residing in Phu Thien district, Gia Lai province) for murder.
According to the case, on the afternoon of March 18, 2022, SA, KT (born December 1, 2006) and some people organized a drinking party at Mr. L's house (Ea Cha Rang commune, Son Hoa district). After more than 2 hours of drinking, some people were tipsy and went to find a place to lie down, at the drinking table there were only SA and KT. At this time, SA borrowed Mr. L's son's phone to surf Facebook, KT asked SA to borrow the phone but SA did not agree, so he snatched the phone from SA's hand, making SA angry. SA picked up the knife on the drinking table and stabbed KT once, hitting KT in the chest and lung, causing KT to suffer a 35% injury.
It is worth mentioning that at the time of the crime, SA was under 18 years old, SA was a Gia Rai, had a low level of education, lived in an area with extremely difficult living conditions, did not speak Kinh, and needed someone to help with translation. The details of the case were considered by the Provincial People's Court to consider reducing the sentence for the defendant SA. Standing in court, SA was confused, bewildered and scared; while the faces of SA's relatives were filled with sadness.
Also because of a moment of anger, defendant Tran Minh Hai (residing in Tuy Hoa City) committed murder. Hai was sentenced to 14 years in prison by the Provincial People's Court. According to the content of the case, during their life together, Tran Minh Hai and his wife and Mr. PMT and his wife living in the same village often had conflicts. On the afternoon of June 4, 2022, Ms. Q (Hai's wife) and Ms. N (Mr. T's wife) argued loudly with each other. Ms. N angrily threw a bowl at Hai's gate and then went with her husband and neighbor Ms. H to Ms. Q's gate to "talk". At that time, Hai was at work, Ms. Q called her husband to urge him to come home because she was afraid that these people would break into the house and beat her. Hai drove home, with half a pair of scissors hooked up in the car. Seeing Hai return, Ms. N continued to curse. Hai angrily grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed Ms. N, Mr. T, and Ms. H many times. These three people were given timely emergency treatment and were not in danger of death, but according to the conclusion of the provincial Forensic Center, Mr. T suffered 59% injuries, Ms. H suffered 9% injuries, and Ms. N suffered 5% injuries.
The sad thing is that Tran Minh Hai and the victims all knew each other and lived in the same neighborhood. Before the incident, the two families had argued with each other. Few people thought that a small conflict would escalate and leave such serious consequences. Now, one is injured and has health problems; another is in prison, leaving behind a family and young children.
In addition to the above incidents, in the past, there have been cases in the province that originated from small conflicts leading to violence, even murder. According to the indictment of the Provincial People's Procuracy, Le Nhu Hoa (born in 1987) is a worker at Son Hoa Tunnel Brick Company (Suoi Bac commune) working the same shift as Mr. NVP (also residing in Son Hoa district). Due to conflicts during work, on the afternoon of December 4, 2022, Le Nhu Hoa used his hand to hit Mr. P in the face on the fuel storage floor 3.2m from the concrete floor, causing Mr. P to fall unconscious on the concrete floor. Hoa and everyone took Mr. P to the Binh Dinh Provincial General Hospital for emergency treatment, but due to severe injuries, Mr. P died 3 days later.
Throughout the trial, Hoa had tears in her eyes, choking up as she apologized to Mr. P's mother, begging her to forgive her for causing serious consequences that she could not foresee in a moment of anger.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dang, Deputy Head of the Office of Prosecution, Investigation and Trial of Criminal Cases, Provincial People's Procuracy, said: Recently, crimes against human life and health in Phu Yen have tended to increase, especially murders and intentional injuries that have caused public outrage and confusion, negatively affecting the security and order situation in the locality. The defendants' actions are particularly dangerous, disregarding the law and disregarding the lives of others. Therefore, it is necessary to have strict sentences for the defendants, demonstrating the strictness and fairness of the law, and isolating the defendants from social life for a period of time to educate and reform them into useful citizens for society, while at the same time deterring, warning, and preventing the whole society.
Lessons in conflict resolution
In most murder or intentional injury cases, the defendants use alcohol. Some people behave normally when they are not drinking, but when they are "drunk" they become very aggressive. In addition, there are many cases that stem from very simple causes such as an unpleasant look, glaring at each other, or provoking each other... many people get physical. According to Mr. Dinh Cong Danh, Head of the People's Jury of the Provincial People's Court, alcohol is only part of the story, the core issue is the culture of behavior between people. Because in some cases, the defendants do not use alcohol, but when faced with anger and dissatisfaction, they still lose control and act extremely hooligan.
In reality, when faced with problems of inhibition leading to excessive anger, many people will have behaviors that hurt others, including themselves. To resolve and limit violent behavior, each person must have a proper and legal way of behaving and living. Therefore, each person needs to be alert, know how to control emotions, and control anger to avoid causing unfortunate consequences from small conflicts.
All right and wrong are dealt with by law, and appropriate behavior is regulated. When conflicts arise, I hope everyone will behave in a civilized manner, and not use personal emotions to resolve conflicts with violence, which can lead to unpredictable consequences.
