Hoi An Ward receives Provincial Monument Ranking Certificate for Faifo Prison relic

DNO - On the morning of December 1, Hoi An Ward People's Committee held a ceremony to receive the Provincial Monument Ranking Certificate for the historical relic of Faifo Prison (141 Ly Thuong Kiet).

Faifo Prison was built in the early 20th century, located in the system of French colonial prisons in Quang Nam - Da Nang, with a large scale and solid architecture. The prison campus is about 2 hectares wide, including many sturdy cells, thick, high and isolated walls, serving the confinement and repression of political prisoners.

The prison once held many revolutionary fighters, including leaders of Quang Nam province at that time and famous patriots. Despite living in extremely harsh conditions, prisoners still organized political study, disseminated documents and united to help each other overcome difficulties.

Faifo Prison is also considered a "revolutionary school", where many soldiers practice their courage and political knowledge to continue participating in revolutionary movements later.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ha Vy suggested that the locality continue to closely coordinate with specialized sectors in conservation work; supplement documents and artifacts, and develop this place into a place for traditional education, historical tours and learning about the revolution.
