
Speaking at the program, Vice Chairwoman of Long Bien Ward People's Committee Pham Thi Bich Hang affirmed: "Today's program is one of the practical activities, expressing the deep gratitude of the Party Committee, government and people of Long Bien Ward for the great contributions and sacrifices of previous generations in the cause of national liberation, construction and protection of the Fatherland. This is not only a simple medical activity but also a concrete expression of traditional morality, responsibility and affection that today's generation has for those who have contributed to the country."
According to the Vice Chairman of the Ward People's Committee, from July 1, 2025, Long Bien Ward was officially established on the basis of arranging the administrative boundaries of three wards: Thach Ban, Cu Khoi, Long Bien and part of the old Phuc Dong Ward. With the new position, in the context of implementing the urban government model, Party committees and authorities at all levels have more clearly defined their roles and responsibilities in caring for policy beneficiaries.
Held at two main examination locations, Thach Ban and Long Bien, the program attracted the participation of 387 meritorious people.
War invalids, sick soldiers, martyrs' relatives, and people with revolutionary contributions are provided with a full list of general examinations, ultrasounds, blood tests, electrocardiograms, health consultations, electronic health records, and especially free medicine.
The total value of gifts, medicines and support in the program is about 70 million VND, sponsored by Duc Giang General Hospital and charitable organizations and individuals in the area.

To further improve the effectiveness of the work of "Repaying gratitude", the Vice Chairman of Long Bien Ward People's Committee requested departments, offices and units to continue to pay attention to implementing preferential policies for people with meritorious services in a timely and transparent manner; promote the application of digital technology in management; regularly organize activities to care for the material and spiritual life of policy beneficiaries...

At the program, Specialist Doctor II Doan Van Phuc - Deputy Director of Duc Giang General Hospital said: "With the responsibility of those working in the medical profession, we consider taking care of the health of those with meritorious services a great honor. The sacrifices of the uncles and aunts are immeasurable, and in any form, we wish to contribute a small part to the care and gratitude of previous generations. The hospital will continue to accompany the local government in similar activities in the future."
According to Doctor Nguyen Khac Thuy - Head of Long Bien Ward Health Station, the free medical examination program not only brings practical health benefits to those with meritorious services but also serves as an opportunity to remind the community of the sacred values that previous generations have contributed. Thereby, arousing the sense of responsibility of today's generation in preserving and promoting the tradition of "remembering the source of drinking water", building the homeland of Long Bien to become increasingly rich, beautiful and civilized.
The program is also an opportunity for wounded soldiers to meet, visit each other, share heroic memories and encourage each other to live happily, healthily and usefully. Speaking at the program, wounded soldier Nguyen Thi Vui, who fought in the Quang Tri battlefield, shared that she was very moved to participate in the program, to be examined and asked about her health by the dedicated doctors. "The Party and the State will never forget soldiers like us, and I believe that today's young generation will continue that tradition," said Ms. Vui.
