After nearly two decades of only organizing sports such as football and tennis, the appearance of pickleball this year has breathed new life, bringing a vibrant and exciting atmosphere to the Ho Chi Minh City press.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21), the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association in collaboration with Saigon Entrepreneur Magazine upgraded the event, expanding its scale with two main competitions: tennis and pickleball, taking place from June 14 to 16.
This is not only an opportunity for leaders, reporters and editors to exercise but also an occasion to strengthen solidarity and professional exchange. Pickleball, a rapidly developing sport , quickly attracted more than 150 players from 25 press agencies and 10 partners, competing in 5 events.
However, tennis still retains its traditional appeal with more than 80 players from 16 press agencies and 8 partners participating in 4 events. Press agencies participating in tennis include Nhan Dan Newspaper, Quan Doi Nhan Dan Newspaper, Sai Gon Giai Phong Newspaper, Thanh Nien Newspaper, Phap Luat TP.HCM Newspaper, along with stations such as HTV, VOV, VOH, and partners such as Vietnam Tennis Federation, Ho Chi Minh City Police, Becamex IDC.
Meanwhile, pickleball welcomed 12 new units such as Vietnam News Agency, Tuoi Tre Newspaper, Phu Nu Newspaper, VTV9, and National Assembly Information Portal. The draw ceremony for the competition schedule took place with excitement on June 11.
Tennis will be played at Hoang Thien Stadium (19 Duong Quang Dong, District 8) on June 14-15, with 4 events: men's doubles of leaders/journalists over 50 years old, men's doubles under 45 years old, mixed doubles, and men's doubles of press-enterprises.
Pickleball will take place on June 16 at The 8386 (71 National Highway 13, Thu Duc) with 5 categories: men's doubles over 45 years old, men's doubles under 45 years old, mixed doubles, women's doubles, and press-business men's doubles. The event promises to bring dramatic matches, enhancing the spirit of colleagues.
