The restaurant is popular thanks to... the daughter.

LeLeMan is how the daughter calls her mother - Ms. Le Le Man (62 years old), the owner of a vegetarian restaurant that has been operating for over a decade on Dinh Hoa Street (District 8, Ho Chi Minh City).

A restaurant frequented entirely by women.

One weekday afternoon, a Tuesday, I visited Mrs. Le Man's eatery. Today, the restaurant was selling vermicelli soup with crab, exactly as it had been on the familiar menu for many years. Even though it wasn't a vegetarian day, the restaurant still had a steady stream of customers, one after another.

The restaurant serves a different dish each day.

Inside the restaurant, Mrs. Le Man's sister and a few other helpers work continuously to ensure customers don't have to wait long. They are open from 9 am to 6 pm, but some days, the restaurant runs out of food by just after 4 pm.

The owner shared that her sister-in-law opened this eatery more than 10 years ago. At that time, Ms. Man was selling homemade spices and sauces (soy sauce, fermented bean curd, chili paste, etc.). Her sister-in-law ran the business for a few months before quitting. Seeing this, Ms. Man "inherited" the business and has been selling vegetarian dishes ever since.

Instead of selling just one dish, the owner says she sells a different vegetarian dish every day to offer customers variety, preventing boredom and encouraging them to visit the restaurant all week.

Accordingly, the restaurant's menu is diverse, featuring dishes such as banh canh or bun cha gio (Monday); bun rieu - canh bun (Tuesday); wonton noodles (Wednesday); Thai noodles (Thursday); Hue noodles (Friday); and pho (Saturday). On the 1st and 15th of each lunar month, LeLeMan also sells curry and spring rolls.

The restaurant enjoys consistent customer support.

"Curry is also the most popular dish at my restaurant, but other dishes are also very popular. I cook these dishes myself, I learn by doing, I don't learn from anyone. My relatives praise my cooking at home, so I cook them for my customers the same way," the owner said with a smile.

What's special about this eatery is that both the owner and the staff are women. Ms. Man confided that on the 15th or 1st day of the lunar month, when the restaurant is busy, her son helps collect the money. But on normal days, the restaurant is run entirely by women.

Proud of my daughter

As a popular food reviewer on social media, LeLeMan's daughter, Tieu Nhu, has recently been making many videos sharing stories about her mother's restaurant, receiving a flood of likes. This has also led to increased business for the restaurant.

"My daughter is my pride and joy. She's so talented, affectionate, energetic, and adorable. Thanks to her, I've become more well-known and have more customers," LeLeMan expressed.

A portion of bun rieu (Vietnamese noodle soup) costs 35,000 VND.

Xiao Nhu confided that, for her, her mother's vegetarian restaurant holds a special meaning, as it provides her mother with the income to support the family and pay for her and her sister's education. She herself is happy to be able to introduce her mother's delicious dishes to more people.

Here, each dish costs around 35,000 VND. The noodle soup with wontons, sold on Wednesdays, costs 40,000 VND. Hung Nguyen (42 years old, residing in District 8), a regular customer for nearly 6 years, said that this price is not high.

According to him, the food here is delicious and tastes just like home-cooked meals. That's why he visits 3-4 times a week, especially on vegetarian days when the restaurant serves his favorite curry dish.

"My favorite dish is curry, but I can only eat it two days a month. Sometimes I wish she sold it every week so I could eat it. But waiting is a form of happiness, and I enjoy all the other dishes," he shared humorously.

The children are the pride of the restaurant owners.

The restaurant is located at 29 Dinh Hoa Street (District 8, Ho Chi Minh City).

For LeLeMan, the restaurant is the culmination of years of hard work and dedication, the "bread and butter" that allows the owner to raise her children. Her daily happiness comes from cooking delicious meals for her customers…
