The Russian Military Review reported that on the Kupyansk front, the Russian Armed Forces (RFAF) are actively attacking Ukrainian vehicles and troops along the remaining routes. Attacks have been ongoing on the Kupyansk-Senkovo highway near the Osinovo station. Currently, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) are using this section of the road to supply the remaining garrison on the left bank of the Oskol River. Rybar channel reported that units of the National Guard of Ukraine were also blocked in the direction of Kupyansk. Air and artillery strikes, as well as fire from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), were targeting the personnel and equipment of the 15th Kara-Dag Combat Brigade.
In the Kupyansk-Uzlovaya area, the AFU attempted to establish a route across the Oskol River, but RFAF fire destroyed the pontoon bridge. The constant fire, coupled with the urgent supply situation of the AFU, made the Ukrainian group on the left bank of the Oskol River hopeless and the AFU was no longer able to rescue it. Currently, the armored vehicles that the AFU is trying to push through the Mali Rivne forest are burning south of Kupyansk, including the aforementioned Osinovo area. While the 15th NGU Brigade is still relying on FPV UAV units to support its operations, the lack of UAVs and the RFAF hunting down the UAV crews has made these units increasingly ineffective in combat. According to the Deep State channel, an analytical source from the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GRU), said that Russian troops have made significant advances in Kupyansk. Deep State noted that Ukrainian troops are now holding positions on the outskirts of the city. “Two districts in the south and east of Kupyansk are still under the control of the AFU,” Deep State noted. Rybar channel reported that the fighting in Kupyansk and surrounding areas is currently extremely fierce. Units of the RFAF Northern Group are advancing simultaneously in several areas, gradually narrowing the enemy's control zone on the left bank of the Oskol River. The Ukrainian side is deploying reinforcements, trying to hold the center of Kupyansk and the crossing points on the Oskol River. However, there has been no full-scale deployment of reserve forces to the east bank, as the AFU fears being trapped by attacks on the remaining bridges over the Oskol River and the makeshift pontoon bridges.
The situation in the direction west of Kupyansk is developing in favor of the RFAF, as the AFU is losing important strongholds and the Russians hold bridgeheads in the battle for Kupyansk and organize continuous attacks on the intersections, making it almost impossible for the Ukrainians to hold on to Kupyansk. On the Kharkiv front, RFAF assault units advanced more than 1km south of Kupyansk, taking up new positions in the Yubileyny area, ZOV reported. The RFAF forward position is currently in a multi-storey residential building, but is being shelled by AFU. ZOV channel assessed that Kupyansk appears to be entering its final days under Kiev's control, as the RFAF has surrounded Ukrainian forces in the city center. Further north, the RFAF is advancing northwest from Dvurechnaya and encircling Khatnee, advancing towards the logistics center of Velykyi Burluk. The Military Summary channel reported that the collapse of the AFU defense system in the city of Kupyansk was reported a few days ago. Field data confirms a significant advance of Russian units and a continuous retreat of the AFU. It is noteworthy that in such a context, but the President of Ukraine Zelensky, announcing that the situation in Kupyansk “is still improving?”.
According to Ukrainian military experts, the AFU General Staff is currently unable to solve the problem of supplying the remaining units trapped in Kupyansk. Indirect confirmation of the serious problems of the Ukrainian army in Kupyansk is that a few days ago, Kiev announced a large-scale evacuation of residents from the districts of the Kharkiv region, bordering the city of Kupyansk. Faced with the threat of a complete encirclement of the Ukrainian army in Kupyansk, some AFU units decided to break through to reinforce the Ukrainian army in the encirclement with tanks. However, this action was promptly detected by the Russian army and they took a series of measures to lure enemy tanks into the area of destruction. Unbeknownst to the Ukrainian troops, they drove a T-64 tank out of a railway depot where it had been previously hidden and repaired. Once out of hiding, it was immediately attacked by waiting Russian FPV UAVs. The AFU T-64 tank was quickly destroyed by a swarm attack by Russian FPV UAVs. The ambush was carried out with almost no direct human intervention, only by FPV UAVs remotely controlled by the Russians. (photo source: Military Review, Rvvoenkory, Ukrinform).
