During the program of attending the 8th Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS) Summit, the 10th ACMECS Summit, the 10th Ayeyawady - Chao Phraya - Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy Summit (ACMECS), the 11th Cambodia - Laos - Myanmar - Vietnam (CLMV) Summit and working in China, on the afternoon of November 5, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with officials, staff of the Consulate General and the Vietnamese community in Yunnan province, China.

Reporting on the situation of the Vietnamese community in Yunnan Province (China), Vietnamese Consul General in Kunming Hoang Minh Son said that Yunnan Province is a key locality in the Southwest region of China with a population of over 48 million people. Yunnan Province also has a deep and close relationship with Vietnam. The Vietnamese community in Yunnan has about 4,000 people working, living, doing business and studying, including many multicultural families. Vietnamese Consul General in Kunming Hoang Minh Son said that this working trip of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is of important significance, including creating momentum to promote stronger, more effective and more substantive cooperation between localities of Vietnam and China.

Mr. Pham Gia Duc, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Kunming, said that the overseas Vietnamese in Yunnan are now the fourth generation, always having a tradition of patriotism, always looking towards the Fatherland. When Yunnan province restored the President Ho Chi Minh relic site in Kunming, many overseas Vietnamese responded to the call of the Consulate General in Kunming, actively contributing, coordinating with the local government to do a good job of the restoration, affirming their patriotism, affection for the Fatherland, and beloved Uncle Ho.

Speaking to the Vietnamese community in Yunnan Province, China, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that Kunming and Yunnan are places very close to Vietnam. This is where President Ho Chi Minh stopped and worked while searching for a way to save the country and leading the revolution. Currently, the relationship between Yunnan Province and the four border provinces of Vietnam, Lao Cai, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, and Ha Giang, is very good.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that this tradition of good relations has long been rooted, especially in people-to-people exchanges since the railway connecting Yunnan (China) with Vietnam was built in the past. As shared by the people, many Vietnamese people have followed this route to Yunnan to work and live, many families have had 4 generations here.

Emphasizing the importance of railways in connecting the two economies, connecting people, and promoting people-to-people exchanges between the two countries, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that Kunming is a very meaningful place for the Vietnamese revolution and that significance will be further promoted in the current period when the two countries are continuing to consolidate and promote the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the "Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of Strategic Significance" to develop more deeply, comprehensively and sustainably to bring common benefits to the two peoples and two countries.

The Prime Minister stated that China is a neighboring country with a common border, "mountains connected to mountains, rivers connected to rivers", a traditional socialist friend and a close relationship with Vietnam. Vietnam always attaches importance to consolidating and developing friendly and cooperative relations with China, considering this a consistent policy, an objective requirement, a strategic choice and a top priority in its foreign policy.

Emotionally sharing his feelings when visiting the President Ho Chi Minh relic site in Kunming, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that we always remember the great support of the Party, State and people of China in the cause of national liberation and development. Sending warm feelings from his homeland to his compatriots, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his gratitude to the Party, State and people of China for creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study, work smoothly, stably and develop their best abilities.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested representative agencies to continue to care for the community, consider the people as their own relatives, and take care of their work as if it were their own family, especially when they encounter difficulties and hardships.

Sharing about the country's situation, the great and historic achievements after nearly 40 years of Doi Moi, and the outstanding results in socio-economic development in recent times, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh hoped that the Vietnamese community in China would continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, live, study and work in accordance with the law, integrate actively and develop well.

Also on the afternoon of November 5, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the Vietnam Culture and Tourism Festival at the Yunnan Theater in Kunming city, towards the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China and the "Vietnam-China Humanitarian Exchange Year" in 2025.

Here, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited the exhibition displaying 40 photos about Vietnam's heritage, culture and tourism, with 4 main themes: Vietnam - Land of miraculous heritages; Vietnam - Paradise of world biosphere reserves; Vietnam - Land of human memory; Vietnam - Home of world intangible heritages.

In particular, the Prime Minister and the delegation enjoyed an art program performed by Vietnamese and Chinese artists with the theme: "Vow to always hold hands, keep the whole heart sincere".

Songs with cultural colors of both countries were performed by artists of both countries with traditional musical instruments. Meanwhile, many Vietnamese songs were performed by Chinese artists and many Chinese songs were performed very successfully by Vietnamese artists.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented flowers to congratulate and commend the artists of the two countries for bringing the audience a program of high artistic quality; especially, demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and friendship between the two countries and peoples; contributing to further consolidating and promoting the friendly neighborly relationship, the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the “Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future of Strategic Significance” to develop more deeply, comprehensively and sustainably.
