The results of many cases show signs of intellectual property infringement, commercial fraud and signs of criminal offenses.
Specifically, during an inspection at Hai Yen rice store, located at 36, lane 28, Xuan La, Xuan La ward, Tay Ho district, the authorities discovered that the facility had repackaged 50kg bags into 5kg bags, printed with the label "Mr. Cua Rice - ST25 - Shrimp Rice", and listed the production unit as Ho Quang Tri Private Enterprise ( Soc Trang ).
The authorities temporarily seized 13 5kg bags of rice labeled Ong Cua Rice; 5 50kg bags of rice labeled “Special Jasmine Rice” without invoices or documents; 2 packages labeled ST25 Rice – Shrimp Rice and Premium ST25 Fragrant Rice; 1 heat-sealing machine.
Next, the authorities inspected Danh Nhan store, located at Nhan Chinh market, Nhan Chinh ward, Thanh Xuan district, and discovered 10 bags of 5kg finished rice labeled Ong Cua Rice - ST25 - Lua Tom with a listed price of 150,000 VND/bag, showing signs of counterfeiting genuine products.
Checking at Tuyet Ky store, address 248 Xuan Dinh street, Xuan Dinh ward, Bac Tu Liem district, discovered that the establishment was selling: 78 bags of ST25 Lua Tom rice, listed price 140,000 VND/bag; 23 bags of regular ST25 rice, priced at 160,000 VND/bag; 37 bags of ST25 rice, 10kg, priced at 280,000 VND/bag; 25 packaging covers labeled ST25 and Mr. Cua Rice logo.
All the exhibits in violation of the above 3 cases have been temporarily detained by Market Management Team No. 1 according to regulations. Based on the actual inspection, Market Management Team No. 1 transferred all documents and exhibits to Team 6 - Economic Police Department to continue investigating, verifying and handling the case according to regulations.
Checking at Hien Trang rice store, address K99 kiosk, VL1 area, Trung Van general trade and service market, Trung Van ward, Nam Tu Liem district, the authorities discovered: 80 bags of 10kg rice labeled "Soc Trang Specialty ST25 Rice - Premium Fragrant Rice"; 125 packaging shells and 1 handheld sewing machine model GK9-500. Market Management Team No. 1 kept all the above goods for appraisal.
Checking at the SONO rice store, address 543 Vu Tong Phan, Thuong Dinh ward, Thanh Xuan district, the authorities discovered: 10 bags of 10kg rice and 40 bags without clearly stating the manufacturing unit, but showing signs of illegal use of the ST25 trademark with the letter "S" nested in "T" and a star shape, without address information or name of individual or organization.
All exhibits were temporarily detained by Market Management Team No. 1 according to regulations for appraisal.
The above cases all show signs of abuse of the famous ST25 Rice brand, causing risks to the reputation of real businesses, while causing confusion and affecting the health of consumers.
The Hanoi Market Management Department continues to direct market management teams to inspect rice trading establishments to prevent violations of commercial laws and protect the rights of consumers and businesses.
