The investment project to build Rach Mieu 2 Bridge (RM2) connecting Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces was approved with a total investment of 6,810 billion VND. Ben Tre residents are now looking forward to the day Rach Mieu 2 Bridge is completed, to solve the traffic congestion.
After 3 years of construction (March 2022 to March 2025), the construction progress of RM2 bridge has a total output value of VND 2,670.14 billion, reaching 80.84%, exceeding the overall progress by more than 4% compared to the plan. Director of My Thuan Project Management Board (investor of RM2 Bridge Project) Tran Van Thi said: “The project progress has not disappointed the attention of the leaders of Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces (in site clearance) and the relevant units have actively implemented the construction. Currently, the project is 4% ahead of schedule, of which the main bridge - RM2 Bridge is 15% ahead of schedule. The project is expected to close the main cable-stayed bridge of RM2 Bridge on April 30, 2025. On June 30, 2025, all 5/5 bridges on the route will be completed and the approach roads will be basically completed. Strive to complete the entire project on September 2, 2025”.
To implement the two RM2 bridge projects, up to 1,104 households sacrificed their land, crops, houses, etc. Specifically, the RM2 bridge project has cleared 543 households, of which Chau Thanh district has 226 households, Ben Tre city has 317 households, helping the contractor ensure the progress committed to the investor. At the same time, the province has also implemented the RM2 bridge access road project, with a total of 561 affected households, clearing the land at once with the RM2 bridge.
The contribution of the people helped the construction unit to have the site quickly deployed, saving time, effort and money. The focus, no delay of the provincial leaders in directing, urging, regularly visiting and mobilizing households and the efforts of many departments, branches and local authorities in the site clearance stage have brought about encouraging results for the RM2 bridge project as it is today. The completion of the RM2 bridge is considered a key project and a foundation, a launching pad for the development of the province in the coming time.

Standing tall right at the entrance to An Hiep Industrial Park (Chau Thanh), the 110kV An Hiep Transformer Station was just technically energized in February 2025. Many businesses in An Hiep Industrial Park said they are looking forward to the transformer station and power lines serving An Hiep Industrial Park being put into operation, so that businesses no longer have to deal with power outages and frequent incidents. Currently, the single power line from Tan Thanh intersection is experiencing continuous problems because the line is overloaded and degraded.
A business owner with a factory located in An Hiep Industrial Park said: “We produce high-tech products, which are continuously automated, requiring a stable power source. For example, in our factory, if the power source is unstable, the system will automatically shut down. There are often power outages during the rainy season. If the power goes out for just 5 minutes, the entire system will stop. Then we have to clean the system from the beginning, so that the product is safe. Each time the system is cleaned, it takes 3-6 hours. The business has to spend raw materials, labor, and stop work, leading to a waste of human resources and financial resources. Therefore, if the power source is unstable, the business will encounter many difficulties and suffer huge losses.”
The An Hiep 110kV transformer station and the Ben Tre - An Hiep 110kV transmission line passing through Chau Thanh district and Ben Tre city, as of February 2025, still have many households that have not agreed on: the support price for temporarily borrowed land, households that have not received money, households that have not agreed to receive money... That is not to mention the difficulties in mobilizing households to agree on the support level for borrowing access roads, filling land and gathering materials and equipment during the construction process, "because households request too high a price, about 30 - 70% of the value of money to build the foundation", according to the report of the Department of Industry and Trade.
Mr. Le Xuan Hai - member of the Board of Members of the Southern Power Corporation said: Requesting units to coordinate so that the project can be urgently constructed during the dry season this year, cannot wait until the rainy season because it will cause many difficulties for the construction process, affecting the implementation progress. Recommend that districts and communes where the project passes must support so that the project can be completed in 2025, because if it is not completed, the investment capital cannot be disbursed to the province.
“The 110kV An Hiep transformer station project was technically energized in February 2025; and the 110kV line from Ben Tre station to An Hiep, if not completed this year, would be considered a waste. Therefore, the Southern Power Corporation and the provincial leaders are determined to complete the project in April 2025, to quickly have electricity to serve production and people in a safe and stable manner,” said Mr. Le Xuan Hai - member of the Board of Members of the Southern Power Corporation.
“Request local Party committees and authorities to consider the propaganda and mobilization work for the implementation of the An Hiep 110kV transformer station and the Ben Tre - An Hiep 110kV transmission line as a key political task, focusing on directing. Assign specific members to participate in solving problems in each locality, to solve the site clearance problem for the project in March 2025”.
