On the afternoon of August 15, in Hanoi, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense held a meeting to celebrate the 79th anniversary of the People's Public Security Forces' Traditional Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2024) and the 19th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2024).

Attending the meeting were Politburo members: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong; Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang.
Also attending the meeting were comrades Secretaries of the Party Central Committee, members of the Party Central Committee; comrades in the Central Military Commission, the Ministry of National Defense; comrades in the Central Public Security Party Committee, the Ministry of Public Security and heads of agencies and units under the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security.

Speaking at the meeting, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, emphasized: Nearly 80 years of building, fighting and growing, under the leadership of the Party, State and President Ho Chi Minh, the People's Army and the People's Public Security are two forces that are always absolutely loyal to the Party, State and people; are the core forces to protect the Fatherland, protect national security, order and social safety, always united, shoulder to shoulder, excellently completing all assigned tasks, contributing to creating a peaceful and stable environment to build and develop a prosperous and happy country.
In the coordination work between the two forces, the coordination relationship between the two forces has increasingly gone into depth and substance, such as: Coordinating the development and advising the Politburo and the Government to submit to the National Assembly many important legal documents. The two sides have regularly exchanged information on the world and regional situation; information on preventing and combating transnational crimes, drug crimes, smuggling, human trafficking; ensuring security and safety of Central conferences, National Assembly sessions; activities of Party and State leaders, international delegations in Vietnam; protecting key targets, projects, political, cultural and social events of the country; coordinating to protect sovereignty over seas and islands; coordinating in directing defense zone exercises...
The two sides also coordinate effectively in responding to non-traditional security challenges, especially in preventing and combating natural disasters, epidemics, and catastrophes, in search and rescue, helping people eliminate hunger, reduce poverty, and build new rural areas and civilized urban areas.

Those results and the quality of political task implementation in recent times are proof of the close relationship, solidarity, and high unity in will and action, which have become traditions and are indispensable factors, contributing to creating the combined strength of the People's Army and the People's Public Security.
On this occasion, on behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang respectfully thanked the attention, leadership and direction of the Politburo, the Secretariat and the Party and State leaders; the close and effective coordination and support of the central ministries, branches and local authorities, including the Central Public Security Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security.
General Phan Van Giang also sent the warmest congratulations to the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security and all officers and soldiers of the People's Public Security on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the People's Public Security Traditional Day and the 19th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection.

Speaking at the meeting, Senior Lieutenant General Luong Tam Quang, member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Public Security, affirmed: The People's Army and the People's Public Security are two important revolutionary armed forces of the Party, the State and the people. Educated and trained by the Party and President Ho Chi Minh; under the leadership of the Party and the State, the People's Army and the People's Public Security have always stood shoulder to shoulder, united like "two wings of a bird", joined hands and unanimously overcame all difficulties and hardships, successfully carried out national defense and security tasks, firmly protected the Fatherland, maintained political stability, actively contributed to the cause of innovation, national development and peacekeeping in the region and the world.
