Implementing the National Tourism Promotion Program 2024, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism coordinated with the Vietnamese Consulate General in Frankfurt to organize a program to introduce Vietnamese tourism in Frankfurt city, Hessen state.

This is an opportunity for the Vietnamese tourism industry to promote and introduce friendly, attractive and safe destinations to key European markets in general and the German market in particular.

This is also a place where Vietnamese and German tourism businesses share updated information, aiming at business cooperation, enhancing tourism exchanges between Vietnam and Germany, preparing for a new stage of stronger development.

Attending the program were Mr. Luu Xuan Dong, Consul General of Vietnam in Frankfurt am Main, along with representatives of travel businesses, airlines and media companies.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh said that in the context of integration and towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations in 2025, both countries have great potential to complement each other in cooperation and development, especially in the field of tourism.

As a country rich in natural and cultural potential, with many unique and novel tourism products, Vietnam has many advantages to develop tourism.

Besides familiar destinations such as Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Ha Long... there are many new destinations that attract tourists, especially from Germany as well as other European countries, such as Sa Pa, Dien Bien Phu historical complex, Hue ancient capital landscape complex, Hoi An ancient town, Son Doong cave exploration...

Types of agricultural tourism, community tourism, nature-based tourism and cultural experiences, traditional craft village culture, unique cultural festivals, and famous Vietnamese dishes are also very popular with international tourists.

Many destinations and tourism products of Vietnam have been ranked among the top in the world by prestigious tourism consulting and review sites such as World Travel Awards, TripAdvisor, Telegraph and major media agencies such as CNN and BBC.

According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, the Federal Republic of Germany is the traditional and most important market for Vietnamese tourism in Europe.

In 2023, Vietnam tourism will welcome over 200,000 German tourists, achieving a recovery rate of 88% compared to the pre-COVID-19 period, ranking 3rd among Vietnam's largest tourist markets in the European Union (EU).

Recently, the tourism industry of the two countries has had many cooperation activities to facilitate tourism exchanges. Typically, in June 2023, the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam allowed Hue College of Tourism to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the FU Education Group (Germany) on exchanges in the fields of high-quality vocational training, exchange of experts, training lecturers, organization of German language courses, exchange and publication of information and experiences related to tourism and hotels.

The recent launch of a direct flight from Munich to Hanoi/Ho Chi Minh City by Vietnam Airlines, connecting major cities and tourist centers of the two countries, also creates more favorable conditions for German visitors to Vietnam.

In addition, the Vietnamese tourism industry actively organizes tourism promotion activities in Germany such as organizing survey delegations, tourism introduction programs, participating in the ITB Berlin International Tourism Fair and other activities to enhance tourism exchanges between the two countries.

The Vietnamese Government's visa exemption for German citizens to Vietnam since 2015 and extension of temporary stay for German tourists to 45 days from August 15, 2023 are also incentives to encourage German tourists to come to Vietnam.

Convenient direct flights, simple immigration procedures, attractive destinations and tourism products, and warm hospitality of the people are ideal conditions to promote tourism development between the two countries.

At the tourism promotion conference, Ms. Petra Schwert, Sales Director of Vietnam Airlines in Germany, gave a presentation introducing the national airline and its services, and said that German tourists have returned to Vietnam more often due to the longer visa exemption period because Germans' travel habits are to learn deeply about their destinations and often travel from North to South or vice versa.

Ms. Schwert also said that Vietnam has many beautiful hotels and resorts, meeting the long-term vacation needs of German tourists.

Within the framework of the tourism promotion program in Germany, German travel businesses also expressed interest and raised many questions to better understand tourism policies and incentives in Vietnam.

Also in this program, Vietnamese folk music artists brought special performances to introduce the beauty of Vietnamese culture to potential German guests./.
