Quang Ngai recorded 7 earthquakes in more than 2 hours, epicenter shook strongly

For more than 2 hours, Mang Ri and Mang But communes, Quang Ngai province continuously suffered 7 earthquakes with magnitudes from 2.5 to 4.2, the epicenter shook.

Quang Ngai continuously recorded 7 earthquakes occurring within 2 hours.

On October 13, the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center, under the Institute of Earth Sciences (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology), announced that Quang Ngai province had recorded 7 earthquakes.

From 1:12 a.m. to 3:30 a.m. on the same day, Mang Ri and Mang But communes (Quang Ngai province) recorded 7 earthquakes. The earthquakes had magnitudes ranging from 2.5 to 4.2. Of which, a 4.2 magnitude earthquake occurred at 1:57 a.m. in Mang But commune, causing the entire epicenter to shake strongly.

Previously, on October 6, Mang Ri commune experienced a 4.9 magnitude earthquake, causing strong shaking, making many people in Da Nang city and Gia Lai province feel the tremors clearly at dawn.

Strong earthquakes have seriously affected people's lives and infrastructure in communes at the epicenter of Quang Ngai province.

A representative of Mang But Commune People's Committee said that they have submitted a document to Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee to supplement funding to repair structures damaged by the earthquake.

The locality also recommended that specialized agencies inspect and assess the cause, extent and risk of earthquake impacts so that the government and people can proactively respond and avoid causing panic.
