From the organic model
In Tien Son land, Nam Ba Don commune, the organic farming and livestock model of Mr. Doan Thanh Lam is becoming a bright spot in the development of household economy . Over the past three years, Mr. Lam has cooperated with Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company, boldly converting the entire production process to a completely organic direction, focusing on balancing economic efficiency and environmental protection. The barns are treated with microbiological technology, ensuring cleanliness and safety for livestock, without using antibiotics or banned substances in livestock farming.
Thanks to the methodical approach, his family sells about 200 pigs each year, bringing in a stable profit of over 400 million VND, affirming the effectiveness of sustainable agricultural development right from the household scale. “Raising organic pigs gives me more peace of mind, less disease, stable output. Each pig sold brings a profit of 1.7 to 2 million VND,” Mr. Lam shared.
On his farm, he also grows organic fruit trees and vegetables; compost is used to fertilize plants, and crop by-products are used as animal feed. This closed cycle saves costs, protects the environment, and increases production value.

Chairman of Nam Ba Don Commune People's Committee Nguyen Van Khanh commented: "This model is effective both economically and environmentally. The commune government encourages people to replicate it to form specialized areas for clean and safe production, associated with organic standards, a specific direction in implementing the province's green agriculture policy."
The story in Nam Ba Don is just a small slice of the strong transformation picture of Quang Tri agriculture. The whole province currently has nearly 2,200 hectares of crops according to standards, of which more than 619 hectares are produced according to organic standards, more than 906 hectares of rice are cultivated in an organic direction. Many typical models have appeared such as VietGAP vegetables and fruits in greenhouses in Dong Son, Phu Dinh; Luc Truc bamboo for organic shoots in Hoan Lao; organic grapes in Dong Son; organic Taiwanese custard apples at Tam An Cooperative (Nam Trach) and Gio Linh organic rice. These models all have higher economic efficiency than traditional farming, opening up sustainable development at the grassroots level.
In the livestock sector, the province has 112 organic livestock farms and about 270 farms applying IoT technology in environmental monitoring, livestock tracking and waste management, contributing to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and forming a circular production chain.
Go to the link to create value
Along with the participation of farmers, enterprises play a key role in building a green agricultural value chain. In particular, Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company is a pioneer, accompanying Quang Tri farmers in developing organic production. From Cam Hong, Tan My, Truong Phu communes, up to now, enterprises have supported more than 10 organic linkage models according to the value chain; farmers are trained in techniques, supported with seeds, biological products and product consumption, bringing an average income of 200-300 million VND/year.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Lam, Chairman of the Vietnam Circular Agriculture Association, Chairman of the Board of Directors (BOD) of Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company, shared: “Developing green agriculture is not only a story of clean production, but also a philosophy of living in harmony with nature. We accompany Quang Tri farmers in building a closed organic value chain from land, water to final products. Each hectare of organic farming land not only brings stable income but also regenerates the ecosystem, contributing to realizing Vietnam's commitment to reduce net emissions”.
Quang Tri Trading Corporation is also a bright spot in implementing the province's green agriculture development policy. The company is currently producing more than 150 hectares of organic rice and many organic food and industrial crops. Mr. Ho Xuan Hieu, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company, said: "In implementing the green agriculture orientation, we focus on 3 contents: Investing in infrastructure for biological production, changing people's awareness and expanding the consumer market. The company has currently invested more than 200 billion VND to build a closed production chain from organic fertilizer - cultivation - processing - consumption, aiming to form a synchronous biological agricultural ecosystem".
Strategic vision and synchronous solutions
The Department of Agriculture of Quang Tri province is focusing on synchronously implementing solutions to develop green-circular-high-tech agriculture, taking innovation as the driving force and digital transformation as a management tool.
Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province Tran Quoc Tuan said: “To realize the goal of green agriculture, the industry is implementing many key solutions. First of all, it is to promote propaganda and raise awareness throughout society, helping people, businesses and authorities at all levels understand the benefits of green, environmentally friendly production. Along with that, the industry increases the application of science and technology, especially IoT, AI, GIS platforms in production, management and traceability, contributing to improving productivity and reducing emissions.”
Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province Tran Quoc Tuan affirmed: “The goal by 2030 is to build Quang Tri into a locality with strong development in green, safe, circular and sustainable agriculture, with over 70% of key products meeting organic or VietGAP standards. The agricultural sector continues to accompany people and businesses to turn that commitment into action, making green the dominant color on the land of innovation and integration of Quang Tri”.
In the same direction, the province also encourages the development of concentrated raw material areas with key products such as organic rice, pepper, coffee, medicinal plants and high-tech aquatic products, linking production with processing and consumption. Currently, the whole province has more than 370 OCOP products, of which 3 products have achieved 5-star rating, 62 4-star products, 303 3-star products with 240 participating economic entities, creating an important foundation for the formation of green value chains. The province also aims to build modern, green-clean-beautiful new rural areas, linking green agricultural development with community tourism and indigenous culture.
