People join the digital transformation flow

QTO - In the 4.0 era, digital transformation (DCT) is not only the application of new technology to production and services but also the process of changing people's lifestyles and habits. Along with that flow, digital technology has been penetrating every residential area, from urban to rural areas, from plains to mountains. The proactive application of digital technology has supported people in many aspects, bringing about great changes in life.

Create many new trends in society

As technology becomes an indispensable part of daily life, people's awareness and actions on applying digital technology become more important than ever. Many people use smartphones, tablets and smart devices to access information, conduct transactions, and connect online. This not only saves time but also facilitates information exchange, cultural exchange, and especially online business and economic development.

Grasping that trend, many people have succeeded in creating Facebook, YouTube, TikTok channels... to promote regional culture and make money through sales. In Quang Tri, the name "Hoa My, Dakrong Mountain Specialties" is probably not too unfamiliar to many people. Here, the channel owner introduced delicious dishes and specialties of ethnic minorities in the western mountainous region of Quang Tri through humorous, cute and attractive videos .

The owner of the Facebook channel, Ms. Ho Thi Hoa My (born in 1987), in Ty Ne village, La Lay commune, said: “As an ethnic minority, My thinks she has to do something to introduce the typical cultural features of her homeland such as traditional costumes, dishes, lifestyle... to help people know more about her homeland. For example, seeing that local products are very clean and delicious but not many people know about them, My made a video to promote them. There are some items that I don't sell, but through the channel, I contribute to introducing the specialties of Dakrong mountains and forests to everyone.”

The channel “Hoa My specialities of Dakrong mountains and forests” has been built for just over a year but now has thousands of followers and supporters. Previously, through her personal Facebook page, Ms. Hoa My also contributed to promoting the culture of Dakrong mountains and forests (old Dakrong district) and effectively integrated online sales. “Currently, people in the mountainous areas have access to technology and digital transformation. Some young people in the mountainous areas are building their own channels but are facing many difficulties with methods and need guidance. As a pioneer, My thinks that young people who can create channels need to be persistent in finding the right direction,” Ms. Hoa My shared.

Another trend in digital transformation is e-commerce. With the development of e-commerce platforms, people can shop and consume more easily. This not only helps consumers save costs but also expands business opportunities for startups. Recently, a number of cooperative models (HTX), cooperative groups linking production, processing and consumption of products are helping people bond and support each other in production; at the same time, find output for products. Vietnam Agricultural Tourism Cooperative - Khe Sanh is an example.

Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vietnam-Khe Sanh Agricultural Tourism Cooperative Tran Thai Thien said that after the initial success of the Khe Sanh Coffee tour, the Cooperative aims to develop the trade of agricultural products and local specialties.

“We have collaborated with a number of units to build the Elocal e-commerce platform. The platform gathers regional products not only from Quang Tri but also from Vietnam. This e-commerce platform was born from the desire to connect the value and quality of Vietnamese agricultural products to consumers across the country, while supporting local producers to access large markets conveniently and transparently. We have connected most of the OCOP products, especially the typical mountainous products of the localities,” Mr. Thien informed.

Most recently, Mr. Thien and his colleagues created a digital tourism map to help tourists access and explore Khe Sanh. This digital map integrates dozens of tourist destinations and service facilities so that tourists can find, experience and enjoy the delicious dishes and drinks of Khe Sanh...

Building "smart countryside"

In many rural areas today, the impression of the level of "digitalization" in life is clearly shown when security camera systems are installed on main roads, village cultural houses have internet, small businesses also have cashless payment methods. In particular, some places have built "smart rural areas" by attaching QR codes to help find addresses easily and update the number and location of households in the village very conveniently. Hung Nhon village, Nam Hai Lang commune, is a typical example.

Hung Nhon village chief Nguyen Nhu Khoa shared that smart cities are thanks to the widespread application of information technology, artificial intelligence and data in government management and operations as well as in infrastructure operations, serving all areas from production, business to people's daily lives. So why can't the countryside be as "smart" as cities in the current 4.0 technology era? That question kept haunting him and finally Nguyen Nhu Khoa came up with the idea of using QR codes to help people and tourists find their way, opening a new direction for "smart countryside".

“The QR code printed boards are made of stainless steel and are highly durable. On the board there are two QR codes, one integrating detailed information about the location and number of 275 households, road length, location of public works such as schools, markets, pagodas, communal houses, churches...; one displaying geographical coordinates. All 16 roads in the village have been fitted with QR codes since April 2025,” Mr. Khoa introduced.

Mr. Khoa's initiative has contributed to changing the face of the countryside in Hung Nhon, and has been recognized and welcomed by the people. According to many people, since the QR code was introduced, it has been very convenient, especially for business households. Now, finding the way to Hung Nhon is easier than in the city. Some people jokingly said: Digitalization has reached every alley and every house in the countryside.

It can be seen that digital transformation is not only a technological trend but also a social movement. People need to join this flow to avoid being left behind. Of course, digital transformation also has challenges. Therefore, understanding the benefits and challenges of digital transformation will help each individual be more confident in applying technology to life.
