Quang Ngai strengthens monitoring of fishing vessels to prevent violations

(QNgTV)- Quang Ngai province has implemented many synchronous solutions to strengthen inspection and supervision of fishing vessel activities at sea. According to a report from the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in July and the first 7 months of 2025, the province did not record any cases of fishing vessels violating fishing boundaries.

As of July, Quang Ngai province had more than 2,900 fishing vessels with a length of 15m or more installed with voyage monitoring equipment (VMS), reaching a rate of nearly 98%. Notably, among the vessels directly participating in fishing activities, the installation rate reached 100%. The list of vessels that have not installed VMS has been sent to localities inside and outside the province for close monitoring and management.

The Department of Fisheries and Seas has established a team to process data from the fishing vessel monitoring system, maintaining 24/7 duty to promptly receive and handle situations where fishing vessels lose signal connection or show signs of exceeding the permitted boundary.

As a result, no violations were detected in July. Maintaining VMS connectivity and strictly monitoring fishing vessel routes are key solutions in preventing and combating IUU fishing, contributing to the goal of removing the European Commission's "yellow card".
