Quang Son, a land rich in cultural identity

At the end of October, at the tea hill in village 8, Quang Long commune (Hai Ha district), the 2024 Flower Tea Festival was held, including activities such as: Bringing water from the source, bringing ancient tea trees... The special thing is that the source of water is taken from Truc Bai Son lake and the ancient tea trees are both brought from the border commune of Quang Son.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Son Commune, there are still about 3 hectares of ancient tea trees that are more than 60 years old, mainly concentrated in Village 4 of the commune. When traveling to Quang Son, ancient tea trees will be an attractive criterion for tourists who love to explore, so a conservation plan is needed.

Quang Son has Truc Bai Son Lake located in Quang Moi village. Truc Bai Son Lake is also known as "mountain lake", beautiful in all four seasons but the most romantic is autumn. The water in Truc Bai Son Lake is considered the source of water, the mother's milk that nourishes the fields in the district. Truc Bai Son Lake irrigation project was built in the 90s of the last century, regulating floods, serving irrigation for thousands of hectares of agricultural land for 9 communes of Hai Ha district.

The lake has an area of ​​110 hectares, the water volume in the lake is often about 15 million m3, gathered from streams in the villages of Quang Moi, Tai Chi, Lo Ma Cooc (Quang Son commune) flowing into. The lake has many fish, helping many people here live better. Each season has its own beauty, but perhaps the lake is most beautiful in autumn. On beautiful days, the honey-colored sunshine makes the lake even more romantic. On foggy days, we can swim in a dugout canoe in the middle of the lake, watching the clear lake water, in the distance is the towering Duc mountain, clouds hovering around the mountain top like being lost in a fairyland...

In autumn, many flocks of storks come to roost on small islands in Truc Bai Son Lake.

In Tai Chi village, Quang Son commune, there is also Doi waterfall - a symbol of love in the midst of majestic nature. The water to Doi waterfall originates from Cao Ba Lanh peak, flows through Tai Chi village and then flows down to Quang Thinh commune river (Hai Ha), down to Ha Coi river flowing to the sea. To reach Doi waterfall, you have to walk about 3km of forest road to get there. The waterfall is about 15m high, the water is divided in half and flows down to a lake of more than 50m2, full of poetry, helping us feel comfortable as if forgetting all the calculations of everyday life. Surrounding the waterfall are old forests, high in the sky, birds flying, making us feel closer to nature.

Quang Son is also a land with rich cultural features and rich identity of ethnic minorities. The commune has 90% Dao ethnic people, the people still preserve many unique cultural values, most of the women know how to embroider traditional clothes. In Ly Quang village (Quang Son commune), there is Ms. Dieng Chong Senh who was awarded the title "Vietnamese Folk Artist" by the Vietnam Folk Arts Association in 2013. Ms. Senh is the one who taught people how to embroider traditional clothes and participated in teaching many traditional embroidery classes in the commune.

Mr. Chiu Sang Hy, also from Ly Quang village, Quang Son commune, is the best trumpet player in Hai Ha district to play traditional Dao music. What is special is that Mr. Hy can also make many parts of the trumpet himself, which are all handmade by artisans who have passed down the generations. Mr. Hy can play all 18 funeral trumpet songs and 12 wedding trumpet songs of the Dao people and is very enthusiastic in teaching those who want to learn his trumpet craft.

Quang Son is a land where people once lived in poverty, but the people still had a high awareness of preserving the national cultural identity. Today, the lives of the people here have improved a lot, creating more favorable conditions for people to continue to preserve and promote better the cultural values ​​of their own people.
