The Provincial Police force has made many contributions to the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province.
We visited Ms. Phan Xuan May’s family in Sung Phai village (Doan Ket ward). Ms. May welcomed us at the gate and enthusiastically introduced: “This new house is supported by the State and the villagers. Thanks to that, my mother and I have a safe place to live, no need to worry about heavy rain or strong winds, now we can only focus on economic development!”
In the story, Ms. May added: I am a single mother, in difficult economic circumstances, my house is degraded but I cannot repair or renovate it. With the State's support of 60 million VND, plus a little of my own savings and borrowing from relatives, I was able to build a solid house. When the house was completed, many nights I still felt like I was dreaming. Thank you very much to the Party, the State, and authorities at all levels.
Not only Ms. May but also thousands of poor and near-poor households, families with revolutionary contributions in the province have received support to build and repair houses in recent times. The "3 hard" houses (hard foundation, hard frame, hard roof) appearing in the mountains and forests of the Northwest not only change the appearance of the countryside but also motivate people to be more attached to and actively build their homeland.
It is known that, through screening, the total need to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province is 7,161 houses (5,995 newly built houses, 1,166 repaired houses). Of which, 69 houses are supported for people with revolutionary contributions; 1,933 houses are supported under national target programs; 5,159 houses are needed to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses for people. The total funding need for implementation is 394,680 million VND. With many solutions, the whole province mobilized 629,418 million VND (of which 398,734 million VND is from the State budget and through the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, agencies and organizations; 230,684 million VND is contributed by families).
We learned that the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province has received close attention and direction from the central government, the participation and cooperation of the entire provincial political system and the community. People trust the leadership of the Party, agree with the policy, actively participate and respond. By the end of July, 7,161/7,161 houses were newly built and repaired, reaching 100%. Of which, 7,120 houses have been completed; 41 houses are being implemented. Many communes and wards have good and creative ways of implementing. Typically, in Nam Cuoi commune, the whole commune has 201 poor and near-poor households approved to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, with a total cost of 11,460 million VND. Currently, the locality has completed construction and repair; disbursed 100% of the capital.
Comrade Nguyen Thanh Dong - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment said: Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses is one of the major policies of the Party and State, with profound humanitarian significance. However, to effectively implement it, it requires the participation of the entire political system and all classes of people. During the implementation process, the Provincial Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses focuses on mobilizing resources from organizations, businesses and individuals with the motto "whoever has merit contributes merit, whoever has property contributes property, whoever has a lot contributes a lot, whoever has a little contributes a little". According to preliminary statistics, up to now, the whole province has mobilized nearly 250,000 working days from the armed forces, cadres, civil servants, public employees, and the community to help families speed up the progress of building houses.
With the drastic participation of the entire political system and the joint efforts of the social community, the province's program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is gradually "reaching the finish line". This effort demonstrates the determination of the local government in "settling down and making a living", improving people's lives, aiming for the goal of rapid, sustainable and comprehensive development.
