Determined to successfully complete the mission of searching for and collecting the remains of martyrs who died in Laos

(QBĐT) - On the morning of October 22, the Provincial Steering Committee 515 held a ceremony to send off troops, assigning the task of searching for and collecting the remains of martyrs who died in Laos in the 2024-2025 dry season to officers and staff of Team 589, Political Department, Provincial Military Command.

Comrade Hoang Xuan Tan, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee chaired the ceremony. Attending the ceremony were comrades: Colonel Tran Quang Thanh, Deputy Director of the Policy Department, General Department of Politics, Deputy Chief of Office of the National Steering Committee 515; Colonel Doan Sinh Hoa, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Commander of the Provincial Military Command; representatives of leaders of departments, branches and sectors.

Following the direction of superiors, in the 2023-2024 dry season, officers and staff of Team 589 made efforts to overcome difficulties and dangers, closely contacting the Party Committee, government and people of Khammouane province (Laos) to discover sources of information, verify, appraise and organize the search and collection of 16 remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed their lives on international missions in Laos to bring them back to the country.

In addition, the team also collected the remains of 11 martyrs in the province to organize a memorial service and burial at Ba Doc Martyrs Cemetery (Ly Trach Commune, Bo Trach) and district cemeteries as planned, ensuring safety and thoughtfulness.

The Provincial Steering Committee 515 also directed the standing agency of the Steering Committee, directly Team 589, to closely contact the Party Committee and government of Kham Muon province to do a good job of mass mobilization, mobilizing, helping, guiding, and supporting the people of the neighboring locality in production, economic development, building political bases, strengthening national defense, maintaining political security, and social order and safety in the working area.

In particular, this year, to contribute to the good implementation of mass mobilization work in Laos, the Provincial Military Command has mobilized from charitable organizations and individuals in the area material support including clothes, blankets, medical medicines and many foods to give to friends with a total value of nearly 200 million VND.

Carrying out the 2024-2025 dry season mission, the Provincial Military Command has organized 40 officers and employees for Team 589 along with equipment and means to organize the search and collection of 15 martyrs' remains in Kham Muon province and 10 martyrs' remains in Quang Binh province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Xuan Tan emphasized that in the 2024-2025 dry season, the standing agency of the Steering Committee, officers and employees of Team 589 will continue to strictly implement the instructions and regulations of superiors to carry out tasks according to the set plan.

In particular, grasp the situation, be proactive and timely, have policies and measures to lead, direct, organize forces appropriately, and perform well all aspects of security work. Regularly do well in political and ideological education, build a high level of solidarity and unity in the entire unit, build determination, sense of responsibility, and care for the material and spiritual life of officers and employees. Especially ensure the safety of officers and employees performing tasks in difficult and dangerous weather and terrain conditions.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the officers and staff of Team 589 to continue to closely coordinate with the Lao localities to do a good job of mobilizing the masses. Proactively propose to the Party Committee, the government, and the Special Working Group of Khammouane province specific policies and measures to propagate and mobilize the Lao ethnic people to provide information about the martyrs' graves.

At the same time, proactively help and support the people of the neighboring country in production, economic development and people's lives to leave a good impression, contributing to tightening the special solidarity and friendship between Quang Binh province and Khammouane province.

On this occasion, representatives of the National Steering Committee 515, the Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 4, the Provincial Steering Committee 515, the Provincial Military Command and agencies and units presented gifts and encouraged officers and employees of Team 589 to confidently set out and perform well the task of searching for and collecting the remains of martyrs who died in Laos in the 2024-2025 dry season.
