Recently, after 42 years, author Kuroyanagi Tetsuko - now 90 years old - introduced to readers a sequel called Totto-chan at the Window: The Next Stories (Nha Nam and Hoi Nha Van Publishing House, translated by Truong Thuy Lan). The book is both a complete addition, continuing the story left open in the previous part, and touching on heavier topics, bringing the story of the journey to adulthood of the little girl who once touched millions of hearts.

After 42 years, the work "Totto-chan at the window" has a sequel.

If Totto-chan at the Window focuses on the image of an idealeducation at Tomoe School, where Totto-chan can live true to her active, innocent nature, this sequel is Totto-chan's challenging journey of maturity in the face of great changes of the times, where war breaks out, death is present, and Tomoe is only a memory.

The book is divided into four parts and told chronologically. The opening part, Cold, Sleepy, and Hungry, tells the story before the Tokyo air raid, where the war became more and more evident and affected the daily life of Totto-chan's family. The next part, Totto's Evacuation , takes place after the Tokyo bombing, and tells the story of Totto-chan and her family's evacuation to Aomori, where she first faces a completely unfamiliar life.

The third part of The Flower of Destiny and the final part of Totto as an actress begins in the final stages of the war, when Japan is moving into a period of reconstruction, families are reunited, until Totto-chan gradually grows up, finding her career path amidst her struggles.

The highlight of the work is the continuation of the educational spirit of respecting individuality and encouraging creativity - the values that made Totto-chan by the Window so enduring. After Tomoe, Totto-chan did not find a similar new school, but she found theater, radio, and finally television. Thanks to the years of trust and curiosity in Tomoe, she had the foundation to enter the world of art with all her passion and courage.

As soon as the news of its release in Vietnam was announced, Totto-chan at the Window: What Happened next created a rare publishing phenomenon: within just the first 3 days of its release, the first 3,000 copies were sold out nationwide. The book was immediately reprinted to meet readers' demand. This proves that the strong appeal of the work comes not only from the love for Totto-chan and author Kuroyanagi Tetsuko, but also from its strong ability to inspire, from the positive values that the book brings to readers.
