The Center brings together the best experts from academia, industry, and government to address the challenges and seize the opportunities of the digital future.

Ms. Gillian Bird, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui The Duy and more than 300 guests from the Vietnamese Government, universities and businesses attended the opening ceremony of the Center.

This groundbreaking collaboration between the Australian and Vietnamese Governments is being implemented through a partnership between the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT) and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).

The center will provide a dynamic platform to launch innovation activities, promote outstanding research, support policy formulation and practical applications of emerging and critical technologies such as 5G/6G, artificial intelligence, semiconductors and cybersecurity.

At the launch, Ambassador Bird said: “Australia is proud to partner with Vietnam to promote innovation and digital transformation, two essential elements for Vietnam’s economic growth. This is a concrete demonstration of Australia’s commitment to supporting science and innovation under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.”

By promoting research and collaboration on strategic technologies, and by connecting Vietnamese institutions with Australia’s leading education and innovation networks, Australia aims to support Vietnam in implementing Resolution 57 with practical, measurable results.

The centre marks an important milestone in Australia and Vietnam’s shared journey towards a secure and digitally connected future, and reflects the deep and ongoing commitment between the two countries under the Australia–Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Digital technology and digital trade are key to promoting economic growth, development, and social welfare, including support for women entrepreneurs. This is reflected in the two countries' Strategy for Enhancing Economic Cooperation.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade provided initial funding of AUD 2.1 million to establish the Centre, with global telecommunications company Nokia providing technical equipment to support the Centre's operations.
