Daily Mail reported on May 19 that Slowthai was scheduled to perform with two bands, Blur and Self Esteem, on July 8 at Wembley Stadium in London, England. However, he withdrew from the show and canceled the schedule, and the show's organizer, Metropolis Music, confirmed this.
Rapper Slowthai accused of rape
Slowthai has cancelled his concerts after being removed from major UK music shows. The rapper was scheduled to perform at the vibrant festivals in the cities of Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds this summer but was no longer on the list of performers earlier this week.
The reason is that Slowthai was charged with two counts of rape of a woman. The plaintiff said the rape took place in Oxford, England in 2021. The rapper was released on bail when he appeared at Oxfordshire Magistrates' Court on May 16 and will appear at Oxford Crown Court on June 15 for the next hearing.
Slowthai has denied all charges, claiming he was wronged and confident he will be acquitted. He wrote on Instagram shortly after his trial: "I am innocent and believe I will be vindicated. I ask my supporters not to comment further on the case and to respect my family's privacy at this time."
He asserted his innocence and believed he would be vindicated.
Slowthai, whose real name is Tyron Frampton, is 28 years old and was nominated for a Grammy in 2021. He released his debut album in 2019, "Nothing Great About Britain", which was nominated for the Mercury Prize and reached the top 10. In 2021, he released his second album, "Tyron", which reached number 1 on the UK music charts.
