Mr. Nguyen Duc Hoa, Deputy Head of Climate Forecasting Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, said that due to the influence of a cold spell of medium intensity, but also the impact of a strong current in the westerly wind zone at an altitude of 5,000m, from February 24 until now, in the North, the temperature has dropped, and widespread cold has occurred in the Northeast region, including Hoa Binh province.
"The cold spell of the last days of February 2024 is forecasted to last from the night of February 29 to March 1. The North will be affected by a new northeast monsoon, so it is likely that the last two days of the weekend and early next week in the North and Thanh Hoa will see widespread cold spells again," said Mr. Nguyen Duc Hoa.

Also according to Mr. Nguyen Duc Hoa: "According to statistics from 1991 to present, the number of severe cold spells according to the criteria of average daily temperature less than or equal to 15 degrees Celsius occurring for 3 consecutive days or more in the Northern Delta region occurring in the second half of February has occurred in 13 years, accounting for a frequency of 40%".

From early morning of March 1 to 3, the area from Quang Binh to Khanh Hoa will have scattered rain and showers and thunderstorms in some places.
The cold spell in the North is forecast to last until early next week, after which the weather will gradually warm up.
