A training session saw two humanoid robots developed by startup Unitree Robotics take to the ring, performing powerful punches and even spinning kicks in the air – complex skills typically seen in professional fighters. According to the company, this impressive agility comes from new breakthroughs in control algorithms and upgrades to core technology.
Humanoid robot practices, prepares for boxing match
"Unlike previous dance performances, the boxing competition was the most difficult part. Because the robot had to fight head-to-head, the pressure was great and there were many uncertainties. We had a lot of trouble ensuring that the robot operated smoothly and remained stable," said a representative of Unitree Robotics.

In preparation for the tournament, the Unitree team has comprehensively upgraded the robot fighters, including the ability to withstand impact, rebalance, and stand up after falling. At the same time, a specialized database containing a series of combat movements has also been built, helping the robots to react flexibly and effectively.
The competition not only represents a major step forward in the field of humanoid robotics, but also opens up the potential for applying AI to sports and physical training in the future.
