Unbelievable decline, MU midfielder is about to be sold

“A lot of good players come here and sometimes they have to face difficulties. Ugarte is the same. He has problems and it is our job to help him overcome them,” said coach Amorim.

The 40-year-old coach admitted that he wants to help Ugarte regain the form he had when he played at Sporting Lisbon. However, the problem lies in the midfielder's efforts.

“He needs to improve, especially in training,” Amorim added.

Ugarte joined MU in August 2024 for a fee of up to 50.5 million pounds, before Amorim took over the team. At first, Ugarte affirmed his ability and was sure to be a main player. But this season, the Uruguayan midfielder is going through a bad series of days when he only played a total of 27 minutes in the last three matches.

The sudden revival of Casemiro and the fact that Bruno Fernandes was pulled back to play deeper has made Ugarte's chances of playing increasingly narrow.

Ugarte's situation is becoming more difficult as United are planning to overhaul their midfield next summer. Targets include Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba and Joao Gomes.
