All forms of yoga can provide physical, emotional, and mental benefits. Yin yoga, in particular, works on the connective tissues of the body’s ligaments, joints, fascia, and bones deep within the body.

This is a relaxing, passive style of yoga that involves holding postures for longer periods of time and increasing inner awareness, paying attention to breathing, thoughts, and body sensations.

Yin yoga is meditative in nature, taught in a calm and gentle manner. Students will notice the biggest difference is the stability and quietness of the postures. These elements will help to deepen the meditative aspect of yoga, from which people learn to live in serenity and peace.

"The practice of yin yoga is essential during difficult or stuck times in modern life. This type of yoga will help us to re-evaluate our own ideas about how to live and the purpose of life, and at the same time return to ourselves. Only then can the miracle of healing last forever.

Bernie Clark has written a very detailed account of the history, philosophy and practice of yin yoga. I believe this book is not only for those interested in yin yoga, but also for all yoga practitioners," commented Biff Mithoefer, author of The Yin Yoga Kit .

Bernie Clark, 70 years old, started teaching yoga and meditation in 1998, currently lives and teaches in Vancouver (Canada).

He is the author of four popular books on yoga, including two on yin yoga and two on applied anatomy in yoga.

Bernie Clark is the name most mentioned by scientists, trainers and those interested in yin yoga.
