This is considered good news for Galaxy users as Samsung has continuously delayed the release of the stable update of One UI 7 due to difficulties in expanding the platform beyond the Galaxy S25 series.
In a statement, Samsung confirmed that the official One UI 7 update will start rolling out in April, but only to the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra devices. This means that other products may still have to wait a little longer to move from Android 14 to One UI 6.
Previous leaks have suggested that the Galaxy S24 trio will likely receive the One UI 7 update alongside the Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Z Fold 6 on April 18. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S23 series could get the update a week later, along with the Galaxy Z Flip 5, Z Fold 5, and Galaxy A54.
Users should not expect too much from Samsung
However, since Samsung has been beta testing for months, users should not expect too much from this progress. Samsung needs to make some serious apologies after the serious software issues it has encountered. The One UI 6 update based on Android 14 was released for the Galaxy S23 in October 2023, while the Galaxy S22 only received the update in October a year earlier.
While Google's Pixel phones have also suffered from update delays, Samsung's delay is inexcusable. This is especially true when compared to other brands like OnePlus, Motorola, Sony, and HMD, which have been quick to release the update. While One UI 7 has many features that are different from stock Android 15, many Galaxy users may be willing to give up some of Samsung's exclusive features to get the chance to experience the new operating system sooner.
