Ready for the 5th Theater Festival on "The Image of the Police Soldier"

The 5th National Professional Stage Arts Festival on “The Image of the Police Officer” in 2025, hosted by the Ministry of Public Security in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, will take place from June 24 to July 7 in Hanoi. On this occasion, audiences in the capital will have the opportunity to watch 25 works about the People's Public Security Forces by 21 art units across the country.

On June 23, in Hanoi , the Organizing Committee held a meeting with leaders of art units to carefully prepare all aspects for the Festival.

Regarding the Festival, Major General, People's Artist Nguyen Cong Bay, Deputy Director of the Department of Political Work, Ministry of Public Security , said that the 5th National Professional Stage Arts Festival on "The Image of the Police Soldier" is a cultural and artistic activity within the series of events celebrating the 80th anniversary of the People's Public Security Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025), and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2025) of the Ministry of Public Security.

Major General, People's Artist Nguyen Cong Bay, Deputy Director of the Department of Political Work, Ministry of Public Security, discussed with leaders of units to carefully prepare all aspects for the Festival.

Through the plays, the Festival aims to vividly portray and honor the image of the police officer on stage; praise the revolutionary nature and glorious tradition of the Vietnam People's Public Security. This is also an opportunity for art units and artists inside and outside the People's Public Security Force to exchange experiences, discover and explore new creations in artistic work on the topic of security, order and the image of the People's Public Security officer.

The festival brings together 21 professional public and non-public art units in the three regions of the North, Central and South. In addition to long-standing theatrical brands which are public art units, including the Vietnam Drama Theater, Vietnam Youth Theater, Hanoi Drama Theater, etc., the festival attracts the participation of many private theater units in Ho Chi Minh City such as Hong Van Drama Theater, Truong Hung Minh Theater Company Limited, TH Entertainment Company Limited - Quoc Thao Theater. Both theater and cinema training schools in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi and many local art units such as Thanh Hoa, Hung Yen, Quang Nam, Quang Ninh, etc. all have works participating in the festival.

People's Artist Trinh Thuy Mui, President of Vietnam Stage Artists Association, spoke at the meeting.

Colonel Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Public Security Communications Department, Director of Public Security Television, and many officers from public security units attended the meeting.

The organizers also informed that among the 25 works participating in the Festival, there are 4 Cheo plays, 4 Opera plays, 2 Cai Luong plays, the rest are all Drama. Except for some units such as the Police Drama Theater, the Army Drama Theater, and the Army Cheo Theater with 2 works participating, the other units have 1 work participating in the Festival.

At the meeting, the Organizing Committee and the units agreed on the opening schedule, performance schedule, logistics, technical work, etc. to serve the performances. The Organizing Committee reminded the leaders of the units to thoroughly instruct the artists, officers and soldiers to strictly follow the regulations of the Organizing Committee and the regulations on performing arts activities.

The works submitted to the Festival talk about the contributions of the People's Public Security Forces in the struggle for national liberation during the periods of resistance against the French and the Americans, building and defending the Fatherland during the period of national renewal; the attention of the Party, the State, and Uncle Ho to the People's Public Security Forces; and the People's Public Security Forces following Uncle Ho's Six Teachings. Many plays praise the sacrifices and exemplary examples of the People's Public Security Forces in the frontline of fighting against crime, protecting national security, ensuring social order and safety; and fighting against degradation in political ideology, moral qualities, lifestyle, "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the organization.

The opening ceremony of the festival will take place on the evening of June 24 at the Ho Guom Theater (40 Hang Bai, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi). The units will perform in the morning and evening from June 25 to July 6 at the Army Theater (No. 130 Ho Tung Mau Street, Mai Dich, Cau Giay, Hanoi).
