To ensure the basis for proposing the Ministry of Finance to amend and supplement the current regulations on vehicle inspection service prices, the Ministry of Transport requests the Department of Vehicle Registration to base on the provisions of Decree No. 177/2013/ND-CP dated November 14, 2013 of the Government guiding the implementation of a number of articles of the Law on Prices to promptly assess the implementation situation and the level of cost compensation of current vehicle inspection services at vehicle registration units (according to types of enterprises, public service units, etc.).
From there, develop a price plan for vehicle inspection services, propose to issue price levels for vehicle inspection services and submit them to the Ministry of Transport for appraisal according to regulations.

The Ministry of Transport said that in 2023, in the face of the new situation, implementing the Government's direction, the Ministry of Finance requested the Ministry of Transport to assess the implementation status and the level of cost compensation of current vehicle inspection service prices. At the same time, it directed the direct management agency of the business unit or the business unit to develop a price plan and submit it to the Ministry of Transport for appraisal. After that, the Ministry of Transport will send a document requesting the Ministry of Finance to amend and supplement the regulations on current vehicle inspection service prices if necessary.
On April 5, 2023, the Ministry of Transport assigned the Department of Finance to chair a meeting to invite the Department of Price Management - Ministry of Finance and the Vietnam Register to discuss the proposal to adjust the price of vehicle inspection services.
After the meeting, it was agreed to request the Department of Registration to assess the implementation status, the level of cost compensation of the registration units, and develop a price plan, propose to adjust the price of motor vehicle inspection services according to the law and instructions at the meeting with the representative of the Price Management Department.
In May 2023, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha chaired a meeting to review the draft Decree amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree No. 139/2018/ND-CP regulating the business of motor vehicle inspection services. In the conclusion issued by the Deputy Prime Minister on May 8, the Ministry of Finance was assigned to issue inspection service prices based on the correct and full calculation of costs according to the market mechanism (coordinating with the Ministry of Justice to report to the Deputy Prime Minister for consideration and application of simplified procedures).
Implementing the direction of the Deputy Prime Minister, the Ministry of Finance has requested the Ministry of Transport to promptly give opinions on the price of vehicle inspection services so that the Ministry of Finance can preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Transport to report to the Prime Minister for consideration and application of simplified procedures.
