After ChatGPT, Vietnamese people search a lot about AI Chat

Vietnamese users tend to be more interested in ChatGPT alternatives.

Coc Coc has just officially released the Featured Search Trends Report for Q2/2023, reviewing 8 prominent topics that Vietnamese users searched for information through the Coc Coc search engine in the middle 3 months of 2023. Accordingly, "electric fan", " ACB Chairman" and "BlackPink" are the most searched keywords this quarter.

Notably, the most searched keyword in the second quarter of 2023 was “power outage”. This new search trend stems from the local power shortage in the North during the hot days at the end of June 2023. In order to cope with the peak heat wave as well as to prepare for unexpected power incidents, people have sought to buy devices that can store electricity as backup. Data from the report shows that the number of searches for products such as “rechargeable fans” and “home generators” has increased dramatically, reaching 97 and 73 times higher, respectively, compared to the first quarter of 2023.

The international figure leading the search trend is BlackPink. The event of BlackPink announcing the schedule of their concert in Hanoi has created a fever among Vietnamese youth. The “Blinks” (the general term for BlackPink fans) are all rushing to buy tickets for the opportunity to “follow their idol” live at My Dinh National Stadium at the end of July.

In the country, ACB Chairman Tran Hung Huy is a figure that "caused a storm on the internet" after dancing and singing in the rain at the company's 30th anniversary celebration. In addition, Vietnamese users are also interested in other figures and current events such as: Michelin stars, protests in France,...

Entertainment maintained its “throne” as it continued to be the most popular search topic in the second quarter. This topic accounted for 28% on Coc Coc Search Engine. In the film group, “Doctor Cha” and “Flip Side 6” were the two keywords that topped TV series and movies in theaters, respectively. As for TV shows, the two positions in the top trending searches were “Sisters Who Break the Wind and Waves Season 4” and “Rap Viet Season 3”. Rap Viet has created great attraction since season 1 and continues to cause a stir with many controversial elements. Sisters Who Break the Wind and Waves is a Chinese reality TV show that for the first time features Vietnamese singer and actress Chi Pu.

The second place belongs to the topic Education , with 26% of total searches. The second quarter of 2023 is the time when the national high school entrance exam and graduation exam take place. Therefore, keywords related to the national high school exam and 10th grade admission increased sharply in this quarter.

Ranked 3rd in popularity with 25% of total searches is the Technology topic. Notably, the number of queries for the keyword “ChatGPT” decreased by 6% even though it was the top keyword in the first quarter of 2023. The keyword “poe.com” appeared for the first time in the top trending keywords. Meanwhile, keywords such as “AI Chat/AI Search” grew by up to 101%. This shows that users tend to be more interested in alternatives to ChatGPT.

Grasping the needs and market trends, Coc Coc introduced the product duo Coc Coc AI Chat and Coc Coc AI Search to users at the end of May 2023. In just the first two weeks, this AI Chatbot product designed specifically for Vietnamese people recorded more than 50,000 registrations to experience. Vietnamese users can still use these two products for free on the Coc Coc browser and search engine.

The next five positions mentioned in the report belong to the topics: sports, finance, real estate, e-commerce, travel and jobs. These topics have changed in content compared to the same period in 2022 (from April to the end of June).
