Vinh Ninh Ward Police coordinated with local authorities to install theft crime warning signs. |
Complex area
Recently, Vinh Ninh Ward Police received a report from Ms. DTTT (born in 2001, residing in Duy Xuyen district, Quang Nam province) about having her Honda Lead motorbike stolen.
“On the morning of April 6, 2025, I parked my motorbike on the sidewalk on Hanoi Street to participate in the VNExpress Marathon Hue 2025. I accidentally left the key on the motorbike. At 8:30 a.m. the same day, when I returned, I discovered that the motorbike was missing. I immediately reported it to the ward police,” Ms. T. shared.
Previously, at 1:25 p.m. on March 23, 2025, Mr. NT (born in 1992, residing in Huong Vinh ward, Phu Xuan district) went to Vinh Ninh ward police to report a theft when he left his motorbike on the sidewalk of Ngo Quyen street because he was in a hurry to take his child to the emergency room at the Pediatrics Department, Hue Central Hospital.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Phi Hung, Deputy Chief of Vinh Ninh Ward Police, said that the activities of property theft crimes, especially motorbike thefts in the area have recently shown signs of complexity. The reason is partly because the area is home to many agencies, hospitals, schools, businesses, services, etc., attracting a large number of people from inside and outside the area to work, study, receive medical treatment, visit and travel. In addition, partly because people's awareness of crime prevention is still limited, leading to loopholes for thieves to take advantage of and increase their activities.
Strengthening preventive measures
From March 2025 to present, Vinh Ninh Ward Police have received 19 reports from businesses and individuals accusing thieves of stealing their property. In this situation, Vinh Ninh Ward Police determined that prevention must be a top priority, only when people are proactive, self-aware and conscious of protecting their personal property will there be no loopholes or opportunities for thieves to commit crimes.
Recently, together with the local authorities, the Ward Police have installed propaganda boards, warning about property theft crimes on roads and public places with many people passing by. At the same time, combined with propaganda on loudspeakers, sharing information about the methods and tricks of thieves on social networks so that people in the ward can access information widely.
Along with that, ward police officers and soldiers coordinate with local security forces to increase mobile patrols at night in "hot" areas. Increase inspections of conditional business establishments and accommodation establishments, grasp the residential situation in the area, thereby promptly detecting suspicious subjects to have plans for prevention and combat.
Thanks to good professional measures, Vinh Ninh Ward Police coordinated with the investigation department to quickly arrest many property thieves in the area; including the two cases mentioned above.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Phi Hung, Deputy Chief of Vinh Ninh Ward Police, said that the investigation and discovery of property theft cases in recent times showed that this group of subjects are mainly vagrants, reckless and daring individuals. Instead of stealing at night like before, the subjects openly commit crimes during the day, even in densely populated areas. People need to raise their awareness of vigilance, self-protection and self-management of their own property.
