Young people honor history through a creative lens

NDO - On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, many cultural and entertainment products about history created by young people have been launched on digital platforms, notably the project to recreate the Cu Chi Tunnels as a "virtual museum" in an online game, bearing a strong creative mark in the way young people remember history and spread pride.

A group of young authors (aged 14-27) recreated Cu Chi Tunnels in the game Mini World.

Inspired by the movie "Tunnel: Dark Sun", the Mini-Dev group (the collective name of creative players in Mini World) including Nguyen Tuan Tien (1994), Truong Giang (2006), Hoang Nhan (2011) and Mini Ca (2007) spent about 3 consecutive weeks "drawing" a map of the special military structure Cu Chi Tunnels in online game language (online video game). Mini World is an online game for players aged 9 and up.

To ensure that the details in the map are true to reality, the group consulted many official sources. Group leader Nguyen Tuan Tien also went to the Cu Chi Tunnels Historical Site (Cu Chi District, Ho Chi Minh City ) to visit, take photos, and record each passage, each tunnel, and each period of the resistance war.

According to Nguyen Tuan Tien, one of the purposes of recreating the Cu Chi Tunnels in the game is to help young people who do not have the opportunity to visit directly or are not old enough to watch the famous movie "Tunnels" to visit and learn about the structure, function as well as stories about the tunnels in a realistic and vivid way using technology.

With the support of creative tools in Mini World, the team recreated the spaces of the tunnels such as the combat meeting room, bunker, shelter, infirmary, food warehouse, armory and familiar wartime items: Hoang Cam stove, radio, helmet...

Interactive games make history lessons more engaging.

Not only stopping at the model, the map also integrates interactive games such as answering historical questions, searching for items, doing suggested tasks, helping players experience, recall and remember in a gentle and interesting way.

In particular, after completing the journey "Cu Chi Tunnels - Following the Dawn", the character will experience a new map also built by the Mini World player community, showing other famous landmarks in Vietnam. That is the humane message that the group of young authors wants to convey: after the darkness of war is the light of peace , where the beautiful country is developing every day and continues to write new pages of history.

Immediately after its launch on April 30, the map “Cu Chi Tunnels - Following the Dawn” in Mini World attracted more than 14,000 visits and 3,500 downloads in the first 12 hours. Hundreds of comments and shares on digital platforms showed interest, support and deep emotions.

Realizing the significance of the project and its positive effects, Mini World Vietnam quickly posted it on official media channels, organizing many diverse activities including challenges to complete tasks, take check-in photos, exchange gifts... as a way to accompany young people on their journey to explore and honor history.

The Mini-Dev group’s project is a clear demonstration of the abundant creativity and sense of responsibility of today’s young generation in many fields: knowing how to be grateful for the past and conveying profound values through the language and tools of their time. Born and raised in peace, having access to and accompanying the stormy development of science and technology, young people do not forget history but are striving to contribute to adding vitality to old lessons, so that Vietnamese history and spirit become a natural flow in modern life.
