According to El Destape, Messi has announced that he will go to Asia with the Argentine national team for a friendly match next June.
Messi confirms he will go to Asia for a friendly match
On this FIFA Day, the blue and white team will have two matches with Australia (June 15) and Indonesia (June 19).
This is extremely good news for Indonesian football fans because previously many opinions said that Messi was not sure if he would join the Argentina team because he was having to resolve some issues related to his contract with PSG.
Related information, recently, the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) naturalized two young stars from the Netherlands, Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick.
Both of these talents will likely be called up to the Indonesian national team in the near future and debut in the friendly match against Argentina.
Ivar Jenner is currently playing for FC Utrecht's youth team, while Rafael Struick is on the payroll of ADO Den Haag (both in the Dutch league).
Both have Indonesian roots from their grandparents' generation and were sworn in as Indonesian citizens on May 22.
As planned, PSSI naturalized these two players last month to prepare for the 2023 U20 World Cup held at home.
However, after the archipelago nation was stripped of its hosting rights, the naturalization process for Ivar Jenner and Rafael Struick was also delayed.
“I was disappointed when I didn’t get to play in the U20 World Cup with Indonesia. But then coach Shin Tae-yong called and said he wanted me on the national team.
Hopefully, I will soon play for the national team during the June training session," Jenner told Bola Sport.
