Modern smartphones are getting better and better in sound quality, however, due to physical limitations, thin and light phones often cannot produce deep and strong bass.

Xiaomi doesn't seem to be satisfied with that, and the company is preparing to break this limit with a bold idea: equipping a real subwoofer on a smartphone.

Redmi, a sub-brand of Xiaomi, is expected to launch the K90 Pro Max model at the end of October. According to the company's statement, this will be the first device to own a "2.1 sound system".

This is a standard speaker configuration, consisting of 2 satellite speakers (or full-range speakers) responsible for reproducing mid-range and high-frequency ranges, creating a stereo sound effect. The number ".1" represents 1 dedicated subwoofer.

The system is tuned by the renowned audio brand Bose, with the Bose logo appearing next to the rear camera cluster - the location of the device's third speaker. Bose's participation in the sound calibration for the Redmi K90 Pro Max is a rare collaboration in the industry. Xiaomi claims the device will bring an unprecedented sound experience on a smartphone.

Bose, a high-end audio brand from the US, is famous for its high-end audio equipment, from noise-canceling headphones to professional speaker systems, with many products priced up to tens of millions of dong.

While Redmi hasn’t announced specific volume levels, the addition of a third speaker is expected to help the K90 Pro Max achieve significantly louder sound levels than its current competitors. The company confidently asserts that this device will open “a new era for mobile acoustics”.

In addition to focusing on the audio experience, Redmi K90 Pro Max also has "huge" configuration parameters. The company has confirmed that the device will be equipped with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip - Qualcomm's highest-end chip line today, accompanied by a cluster of 3 cameras, with the main sensor measuring 1 / 1.31 inches.

Similar to the current trend of Chinese smartphones, the device is also equipped with a large capacity 7,560 mAh battery, with fast wired charging up to 100 W and 50 W wireless charging.

While Redmi is boldly innovating, the two "big guys" Apple and Samsung seem to still stick to the familiar philosophy. The Galaxy S26 series is predicted to have little to no major upgrade in sound, similar to the iPhone 17's sound quality being almost unchanged compared to the iPhone 16.

This makes the Redmi K90 Pro Max a breath of fresh air in an otherwise conservative market. However, the product is likely to be sold only in China, unless Xiaomi launches an international version under a different name.
