On November 12, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City announced: On the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2025), the unit will not organize receptions, nor accept flowers or congratulatory gifts. This policy aims to practice thrift and combat waste and has been maintained for many years.

The Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City also sends its sincere thanks for the attention and good feelings of agencies and units and hopes to continue receiving support for the city's education and training career.

For the past 13 years, since 2013, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has sent out a document wishing to receive electronic greeting cards instead of fresh flowers and gifts on the occasion of November 20. According to the Department's leaders, this will be the most meaningful gift for the staff, experts and employees of the Department in the spirit of friendship and savings.

Currently, many schools in Ho Chi Minh City are also encouraging parents, students and partners to not give flowers or gifts but instead give books, notebooks or scholarships to students. Some typical schools such as Phan Van Tri Primary School, Nguyen Van Luong Secondary School, Thu Duc High School, Le Minh Xuan Secondary School... are also doing this. The call has received positive responses from parents and donors, contributing to spreading educational values with many practical meanings.
