The conference to review 5 years of the "Silent Contributions" communication program and award the 2025 writing contest organized by Kinh te & Do thi Newspaper in collaboration with ActionAid International in Vietnam and the Vietnam Social Security Program and Project Support Fund (AFV) on the morning of November 28, took place at the Dong Da Ward Culture and Sports Center, Hanoi.

Speaking at the event, Editor-in-Chief of Economic & Urban Newspaper Nguyen Thanh Loi emphasized that the program has become “a prestigious media brand with a profound influence in society”. From a small media initiative, the program has gradually been upgraded to a forum for sharing knowledge, connecting the press, managers and the community in the journey to promote equality, humanity and sustainable development.
In the first two seasons (2021 - 2023), “Silent Contributions” was a writing contest to honor simple but resilient examples. From 2024, the program was expanded into an in-depth communication program, focusing on reflecting efforts to care for the lives, rights and working conditions of female workers - especially female migrant workers in the context of digital transformation and socio-economic fluctuations.
Along with propaganda activities, the program is also a policy connection channel when accompanying the functional agencies of Hanoi in implementing Program No. 08-CTr/TU of the Hanoi Party Committee on developing the social security system and improving the quality of people's lives. From the framework of Hanoi, the program has spread to many other provinces and cities through seminars, training, and practical activities to support vulnerable groups to raise legal awareness, especially freelance workers, people with disabilities and children.
After 5 years, the Organizing Committee has organized 10 thematic seminars, 3 field trips, developed a legal advice podcast on social security, organized a digital journalism contest for students and recorded more than 2,100 entries from more than 500 authors. A total of 96 authors/author groups were honored with prizes worth more than 1 billion VND.
The year 2025 marks an important turning point when the competition focuses on the topic of people's livelihoods in the context of climate change and new challenges of the digital economy. The organizing committee has expanded the propaganda content to the following topics: Environmental protection, impacts of natural disasters and climate change on life; obstacles in production, inflation, international integration; opportunities and challenges from digital transformation.

Speaking at the program, Mr. Ta Viet Anh - Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Social Security Program and Project Support Fund (AFV), Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the contest shared: The highlight of this year is the application of a new journalism model. The podcast on social security on the Law & Society page of the Economic & Urban Newspaper becomes an "easy-to-access legal handbook" for people, integrating a Q&A section using AI technology to spread knowledge in an intuitive and friendly way.
In addition, the writing contest for professional and amateur authors continued to attract a large number of participants, with 581 entries in nearly 7 months of launching. Many works analyzed multi-dimensionally the environmental impact, stories of livelihoods after natural disasters, or the journey of workers to rise in a challenging economic context.

After two preliminary and final rounds, the Jury selected 10 outstanding works from professional groups to award First, Second, Third and Encouragement prizes. At the same time, 2 collective prizes and 10 final round certificates were also awarded to recognize the creative efforts of the participating units.
In the non-professional author system, 9 authors/author groups were honored, including 1 First Prize, 1 Second Prize, 2 Third Prizes and 5 Encouragement Prizes. The Organizing Committee also awarded 1 collective prize and certificates to 10 works in the final round. The total prize value of the 2025 contest is up to 240 million VND.

These numbers not only reflect the professional quality but also show the appeal of a communication program with profound social significance. After 5 years, “Silent Contributions” has become a prestigious annual event, constantly innovating its approach, increasing interaction and raising public awareness of social security.

Speaking at the program, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi highly appreciated the media program "Silent contributions" with its effective contributions, contributing to honoring the important contributions of individuals and groups in caring for, treating and creating the best conditions for female workers, especially female migrant workers who have to rent houses.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Loi expressed his belief that the Silent Contributions Communication Program will continue to accompany and effectively contribute to the journey of improving the quality of life of the people, because Hanoi city always determines that improving social security and social welfare for the people is a humane program with no stopping point.
