Ca Mau Department of Agriculture and Environment held a meeting for July 2025, deploying key tasks for August

On the afternoon of August 6, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ca Mau province held a regular meeting to evaluate the performance of the entire sector in July and the first 7 months of the year, and at the same time set out key directions and tasks for August 2025. Attending and directing the meeting were Mr. To Hoai Phuong, Director of the Department, Deputy Directors of the Department, along with Heads of specialized and professional departments, and Heads of units under the Department.

Speaking at the Conference, Mr. To Hoai Phuong, Director of the Department, emphasized the importance of summarizing and evaluating the implementation of tasks, and at the same time requested units to seriously propose solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles, ensuring the good completion of development targets of the agriculture - forestry - fishery sector, associated with the task of environmental protection.

At the Conference, delegates listened to a summary report on the results of activities in July and the first 7 months of 2025. Some outstanding achievements include: for aquatic product output: July reached 105,562 tons, up 5.3% over the same period, a sharp increase compared to the monthly average. Farmed shrimp reached 49,500 tons, up 11.1% over the same period. Exploited shrimp reached 1,507 tons, a slight increase. The price of black tiger shrimp was stable, whiteleg shrimp decreased slightly compared to June. For agriculture : Harvested 1,500 hectares of Summer-Autumn rice, output 8,475 tons; accumulated rice reached 1,158,615 tons, up 8.9% over the same period. Vegetables and fruit trees are well protected against pests. Continue to implement the Project of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice. For livestock: Pigs sold in July: 55,857; cumulative 412,671 (up 5.1% over the same period). 10 outbreaks of African swine fever and 01 outbreak of rabies, no avian influenza. Compared to June: diseases in pigs increased. For forestry: Exploitation: 1,452 hectares, output 144,556 m³. 02 violations detected (a sharp decrease over the same period), down 31 cases compared to the first 7 months of 2024. For salt industry: Total salt output in 2024 - 2025 reached 57,036 tons; the province has 2 salt products achieving 5-star OCOP. For New Rural Development: 43/55 communes meet new rural standards (78.2%); There are communes achieving model new rural areas… In general, compared to June, July recorded a clear growth in aquaculture and agricultural production, progress in new rural construction and poverty reduction. However, livestock diseases and damage caused by natural disasters tend to increase, so it is necessary to continue to monitor closely and have effective response solutions.

After listening to the Progress Report on the implementation of Resolution 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology, innovation and digital transformation, delegates discussed difficulties and obstacles in performing professional tasks and proposed solutions to overcome them in the last months of the year.

Concluding the Conference, Director To Hoai Phuong acknowledged the efforts of the entire industry in recent times and directed units to focus on effectively implementing assigned tasks, while strengthening coordination, improving the quality of advisory work and implementing tasks on schedule, especially in the context of increasingly complex weather, natural disasters and climate change, directly affecting agricultural production.
