According to Le Hoang Yen, Director of Soc Trang Province Tourism Promotion Information Center, Soc Trang is a land rich in cultural identity with many traditional festivals typical of the three ethnic groups Kinh, Khmer, and Hoa. Moreover, Soc Trang has a dense river system and diverse culture, with great potential to develop unique river festivals. Such potential advantages have posed an urgent requirement for the province to have cultural tourism products of river festivals with local identity, with strong appeal to tourists and the public, contributing to building the local brand and increasing the province's tourism revenue.

At the workshop, delegates made presentations on the current situation and potential for developing Soc Trang river festivals; discussed and shared practical experiences in organizing, managing, and exploiting cultural and river festivals to develop tourism in localities; practical experiences from localities in organizing and developing river festivals; specific solutions on infrastructure, promotion, and attracting investment for festivals; the role of the community and social organizations in preserving and developing festivals; action plan for developing Soc Trang tourism in the period 2024-2030, with a vision to 2035...

In addition, experts also shared about world tourism trends in cultural festival tourism and the ability to attract tourists to Soc Trang's river cultural festival; ideas for river cultural festival tourism products on Maspero: cultural heritage night on Maspero river approached from the night experience tourism model...

Dr. Trinh Cong Ly - Chairman of Soc Trang Province Tourism Association, proposed: "It is necessary to create new and familiar landscapes on both sides of the river. These are houses, plants, rows of trees along the river, and ornamental flowers. The monotony of the landscape will make it difficult to attract tourists. In addition, research to build a pilot of some homestays along the river, and the construction of houses and buildings along both sides of the river must be in accordance with the planning, ensuring harmony and balance in the architecture of the river city. Because in fact, the landscape on both sides of the river is also very important to attract tourists".
