Soc Trang province hands over 8,917 houses to people

As of June 19, 2025, Soc Trang province has completed the construction and repair of 8,917 units (6,549 new units, 2,368 repaired units), 3 months ahead of schedule compared to the set target.

The total budget for implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Soc Trang province is over 463 billion VND. The program is supported and mobilized from many resources, such as: support from the Central Government through the National Fund to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses; capital from national target programs; provincial budget; mobilizing and calling for contributions from businesses, banks, philanthropists, civil servants, public employees, and workers inside and outside the province.

To achieve and exceed the set goals, Soc Trang province has promoted the spirit of initiative, responsibility, and solidarity with the joint efforts of the entire community through more than 42,000 working days of armed forces soldiers, youth union members, women, and many socio- political organizations and people.

Soc Trang provincial leaders awarded certificates of merit to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the program.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the People's Council of Soc Trang province, said that the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses is not only to build and repair to protect from the rain and sun, but also to build a happy home for each family, to light up faith, to arouse the spirit of solidarity and affection, to spread compassion and to convey a strong message about a humane society, developed for people.

Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao hopes that with the support of the Party and the State, and the sharing from the community, households will promote the spirit of self-reliance, self-improvement, strive to rise up, and stabilize their lives. Because only when there is determination from the households themselves, the objects of support, will the help of the Party, the State, the community, and society be truly meaningful and sustainable.
